Florida will have to trade someone, some posters have pointed to Eetu. Florida needs cap space but will want to replace the player in sorts. I don't know if we can pull that off.
If Florida would purely accept futures, I would be in 1000%. Could be a great second line centre for this team for the next ten years.
|
He would be a great pickup. But in order to make room guys like Backlund, Coleman, Sharangovich will have to be looked at in terms of being moved out. Maybe Farabee too?

I believe the team will be a defense first, grind em out, bottom-10 team this year by design. Jeannot, if he comes, could help continue to establish a “hard to play against” identity.

Had to check the time stamp on your post because I could have sworn it was from summer 2024.

Lundell and the 3rd line was a key cog in winning. They often outplayed the other teams top line significantly.
Florida didn’t just sign 3 older players to turn around and toss away a young stud. Bill zito runs things not Treliving.

If I were conman I would work hard on teams in big cap trouble.
I would look at trying to move Coleman, Andersson and Sharangovich. Maybe Farabee
We have way too many young defenders and wingers. I’d use some of the dmen in trades. They will never all be on our roster assuming Pareckh is coming in this year.

It is a league wide issue and one of the reasons the NHL is a joke sometimes. No other league has the level of trade protections the NHL has. Third liners and third pair get some type of no trade list. Sharangovich gets a 10 team no go list

It’s only a ten team no trade list. 22 teams to work with. Sharangovich isn’t getting moved because he sucked last season. He’ll need to pop to get some value back.

I still think Andersson, Coleman (50%), and Pospisil for Robertson and Dumba makes a lot of sense for both sides. Dallas can use Andersson as a rental, they grab a decent player in Pospisil as an RFA, and Coleman for 2.45m for 2 seasons.

Trade protection should only be given to your core players like Wolf and Parekh.
Giving retirement contracts no movement clauses like we did with Kadri and Huberdeau is ridiculous. We even gave freaking Mantha a modified no trade clause last year.
I wonder if that is the only way players will sign with the Flames sometimes.

Wasn’t Sharangovich dealt to the Flames after a down year?
I think GM’s and hockey departments around the league are a little more sophisticated in their valuation of a players skills, abilities, and how the player may slot into their own organization.
If GM’s only traded player at a high point, or their pinnacle, I’d bet very few trades would ever happen.

I wonder how many players we would sign if we did the opposite of every single NHL team and stopped offering NMC’s and NTC’s. Would be an interesting experiment.

I don’t think Conroy wants to trade Kadri, but with the thin center market and the success of Bennett in the playoffs, I wouldn’t be surprised if teams are trying to pry Kadri out of Calgary. I just think it would take a home run of a return to get Conroy to go to Kadri with it.

And would Kadri change his mind from what he has consistently said?
