For the record there doesn't appear to be anything anywhere that says the CPC wouldn't implement this without the US. Maybe I missed it, but I couldn't find it? Otherwise it just seems to be conjecture?

The PM was interviewed on the Sun this morning and said it. It has been said before within the campaign. I think they call it part of a coordinated effort.

I didn't see that. Regardless though, its a bad policy no matter who implements it and will be a problem for the west in particular. I wish that one if these parties would go the carbon tax route...although a new tax and election are likely a losing combination even if it makes more sense.

I also saw the interview between the Sun and Harper and he talked about the coordinated effort with the States.
Also Slava if you look at the three platforms, the NDP and Liberal's both specifically promise to implement a cap and trade if elected. The Conservatives don't have a cap and trade in their election platform.

I'm honestly considering submitting a protest vote this time around.

As terrible as Lee Richardson has been in my riding I don't see the CPC losing any seats in Calgary.
It'll be interesting to see how the NDP actually do. The polls are strong but will that translate into winning enough ridings to become the opposition? It'll be interesting tomorrow.

I live in SW as well. I'm not sure....I might actually vote NDP. The vote doesn't actually matter, but Layton has clearly run the best campaign. I don't agree with somethings they would do...then there are things I agree with but we can't afford. I don't know.
I won't be voting Liberal....that much is certain though.

I'd rather have the market figure out the cost of carbon mitigation required to hit whatever emission targets are set than a bunch of politicians.

Well there really aren't a lot of choices. There are exactly zero fiscally conservative parties in the election. I don't want to stay home....so its a decision of who to give $2 to basically.

Makes sense. You say being fiscally conservative is what is important to you, so your best bet is to vote for the party that believes money grows on trees. Brilliant.
As for the NDP running the best campaign, hardly. Every time Layton is forced to address his party's platform, he trips over himself and shows just how utterly clueless he is. I don't see that as running a good campaign.

I wonder if it is a mistake to only have such a short time campaigning. I have to think
the NDP's surge would settle down a bit if people had a chance to look beyond the personality.

Just because I'm not voting for your guy doesn't mean that I'm not a fiscal conservative, good effort though.
I would say the party that is potentially tripling their seat count ran a good campaign? The CPC might in for a huge let down tomorrow...it never should've been this close, and more specifically the NDP never should've been this close.
Thanks for telling me who I should vote for though. I'm fairly sure I'm making an informed decision here. I didn't just saunter in to the polling booth and pick a favorite colour...frankly I followed things incredibly closely.
Which riding are you in anyway? I just want to know which Liberal or NDP candidate I should be rooting for tomorrow night

Not at all. I'm just pointing out that I don't believe that fiscal conservatism is an actual issue for you. Clearly your main concern has been "who has the best shot at beating that evil Stephen Harper".

Tripling their seat count sounds like a bit much, but I'm sure they will do quite well. In my mind however, they are the beneficiaries of the Liberals and Conservatives not doing running poor campaigns. When it comes to their actual campaign, they really haven't been very impressive.

Niagara West-Glanbrook. Dean Allison is the incumbent.

Wow so much fear mongering going on in here LOL.
Even if the NDPs out seat the Libs we are still in for a minority Conservative government again <yawn>.
I highly doubt that the Liberals will go to bed with the NDP to oust the Cons after all the niceties being spewed against everyone's friend Jacky boy, besides they will be too busy worrying about their next leader.
The Cons used the NDP many times to back them up over the last 5-6 years which allowed the CPC to stay in power...the same thing will happen this time.
The ONLY difference will be a slightly social appearance/smell to the agenda this time around. We will end up in another election before <horrors be> the Cap and Trade scenario is brought into play.
In the meantime the Liberals will oust their failed leader which will allow us another 2 years before the next election. The Cons would be wise to do the same.

My point isn't just to beat the evil Conservatives. Problem is the culture of entitlement they have doesn't sit well with me at all though. In my riding (Harpers riding) my vote really doesn't matter; it really is a pure protest vote to vote for anyone other than Harper.

I didn't say they are ######s because they have different political views, I said they are ######s because they don't think rationally. Voting Liberal to cancel by Conservative vote because I said Layton and Ignatief are tools is irrational. Voting NDP because they don't like the Conservatives is irrational, don't vote then, especially when you don't understand that the NDP can't possibly do everything they want.
Sure, hire more doctors, raise pension plans, etc. Oh by the way, how much are taxes going to go up, how bad is the debt going to be? Oh wait a minute...
