I have always wondered why the Flames don't have a couple of employee's directing traffic in the side washrooms on the concourse? The way it's shaped, a lot of people just line up for the first few stalls, meanwhile the ones in the back literally have no line up.

If they were able to encourage people waiting in line to get moving towards the back for literally 10 minutes a period, they might be able to collectively get a few hundred more people in and out of there, spending money concessions etc a game

I don’t think so though. Sometimes tours skip Calgary or Edmonton for whatever reason, even pre new arena up north. Sometimes even when they play smaller venues they still skip one city.

Playing only 1 city per province isn’t unheard of. It’s just as likely he picks one location and skips the other.

I have wondered why there is a not a medic station near any set of stairs. Every time I have gone to a game, I have seen somebody fall and nearly kill themselves. Last game, some guy slipped and hit his head on the railings.

Yes, unless I am mistaken, many years back (maybe 10-15) I believe this did happen and there were some serious injuries to both the person who fell and the person who was fallen on to.

Against the Canucks, I was at that game. Suddenly everyone in one area was standing and going crazy. Turns out there was an altercation and a Canucks fan started to fall and grabbed his buddy. They both fell over the railing into the second tier.

There was never any public update on what happened, which is consistent with the Flames. I remember there was a heart attack in section 220 at a Sharks game during the anthem. The Flames proudly announced the resuscitation, which the local media produced a story on. But I'm sure there's been worse outcomes of medical emergency that they don't announce (Someone collapsed during the anthem when the Flames hosted an AHL Heat game at the Dome, and looked pretty dead to everyone around the area).

I still remember the worst two people I've ever seen in my life at that game. Two early 20's guys walking up to their seats got told to stop and wait while EMS was dealing with an issue. They were 10 feet away and someone told them that a man was having a heart attack.

The one guy looked over to the area in annoyance and said to his friend "well, I hope he dies then" and kind of laughed. His buddy laughed and they stood there in complete annoyance that they couldn't get to their seats. I mean I was a stupid kid, but never had ugly feelings like that towards a stranger at risk of losing his life.

To me this sounds like really dry, sarcastic humor. Easy to be taken offensively and probably wasn't delivered very well and probably wasn't funny...but it reads like a joke to me.

Legit laughed out loud, thanks for actually sharing this unpleasant at the time experience!
Could totally see a situation like this unfold, which makes this funnier.

How is making a joke vs a comment any better while standing next to an unconscious father getting resuscitated while his young son stands in shock?
Either way it comes off sociopathic, not poorly delivered or unfunny. This was around 2006/2007 ish. Ken King was up there immediately.

And the current tour was a stadium tour. We had no chance regardless of the arena.

And then there was that tour (2011-12) Elton John went to Calgary, Red Deer, Lethbridge and Grande Prairie but not Edmonton.

Tempe about to become the new Tampa

What's next on the Calgary arena front?? Still seems like years away from even an agreement? 5+ from breaking ground?

I totally disagree! When someone's life is on the line, when someone is fighting for his/her life, it's NEVER time to make a joke about it. Doesn't matter how old that idiot joker is.

Hey...I like dark, gallows humour probably more than the next guy, but if someone is in actual life or death distress? STFU and GTFO of the way.

If you want to be a chucklehead about it later within your friend group, thats your business, but in the moment? At the scene?

Time and place and read the room. What if that guy's wife and kids were right there?

The only really appropriate response in that moment is "Holy ####! Really? Let me get out of your way!"

Really hoping cooler heads prevail and both sides reach an agreement soon, as it really does seem like the arena's an inevitability. There's way too much construction around the area not to have this Event Centre there eventually. It feels like they city's already penciled it in at this point.
