Just imagine for a moment that Tanev and Markstrom were UFAs next season, and instead of offering them new contracts we let the oilers sign them.
Lol.

I for one like the edge Dube is playing with. I am a huge fan of the guy and never realized how physically he plays.

Niether is diabetes or other health costs on the system. I'll definitely be shamed for saying it but it's TRUE. Andresson is one that obviously took the steps needed. I wish people would stop making being unhealthy ok. Glands and hormones blah blah blah. Maybe in some cases but the majority it is not and medicail science proves that so spare your out rage.

Lol. Fat shaming was the best thing my friends ever did for me. Got me back on track and made me lose 45lbs. I have zero problem with it, but I am no longer fat...so my opinion probably doesn't matter lol.

Well, you wouldn't make fun of someone with cancer.
And that is similar to the health impact being dramatically overweight has on your body.
I dont think we should be publicly doing it, and it shouldn't be shame based, but we should treat super overweight people like addicts imo. They are addicted to sugar usually.

A guy his size has to either play with an edge or avoid contact. He has to make some of his own space. And when you skate as hard as he does, collisions happen.

I already hate the shootout but this makes it worse. Now you’ve totally changed it from anything resembling a game situation. It’s like a game of horse or something.
Put a defender on the far blue line and let him chase the guy down if you’re insisting on a shootout.
But honestly just extend 3 on 3. No one gets hurt 3 on 3 since there’s no hitting so injury risk is small. It’s like basketball OT and they manage that just fine. Half the players don’t even see the ice anyway. And if you get rid of the loser point, teams are going to go all out to win.

I think Leivo is coming around. Has some nice aspects to his game.

Plus Tkachuk is something like 43% in shoot outs to Gaudreau's 28% in his career (Leivo is 28%) as well.

This is what they do for kids 3-3 tournaments for penalties.
Penalty shot is awarded and the rest of the on ice players kneel on the blue line. It's actually fun to watch and is exciting if one of the chasers catches up to disrupt. Pretty hard to manage though (false starts and tons more hooking/slashing as they catch up).

What outrage? I don't like fat shaming. It is mentally and emotionally harmful to people who struggle with their body image. Fat shaming causes health costs on the system too. Why is it so hard to just be kind and positive?

I would be more supportive of eliminating the extra point only if the shootout were eliminated. Having grown up in an era which tolerated ties in hockey I have had a very difficult time getting over the gimmick, and have always felt that the current format rightly rewards ties like the old format always did.
But I expect things would not at all play out as you imagine they would. The reason the extra point was introduced in the first place was precisely because of how teams would protect the tie after they had earned it. In a winner-take-all situation, teams would be much more prone to sit back, to slow plays down, and to wait the other team out to make a mistake. It would not make the quality of hockey better, rather more likely having the opposite effect.

I agree on having 3 on 3 keep going.
But I don't think eliminating the loser point is the best way to go - that will motivate coaches to play defense.
You want the game to end as quickly as possible, so the best motivator is to have a reward for winning, with no downside for losing. In other words: the 3-2-1 format.
It is so simple: you each get a point for making it to OT. Now, the first team to score gets another point.

^ and it also motivates teams to win in regulation, as opposed to playing for OT

I would be so cheesed off if I was a Nucks fan. Tanev and Markstrom are already near the top of my list of favorite flames. What the heck were they thinking?

Is it weird that I wanted this for myself too? Not Robinson, that's not my last name, much less common. There's one player who got drafted with same last name a few years ago and I was planning on buying his jersey as soon as he became an NHLer (unless it was Edmonton or something).
Unfortunately he appears to have fizzled.
