Yeah, my vivid recollection of at least some of his points in the POs were like when he arrived at the goalmouth after his line mates created the play and he managed to whack the puck in over the scrum.

Maybe the Flames earned questions from Bennett as to where they see things going
Bennett is concerned that if his work for the team in the playoffs earned him no good will, where do things stand? Does he have a role and future here?
I think it’s reasonable to say that if the team doesn’t want to give him a role in line with what he has given them, he is open to exploring teams who may
Friedman called his agent and got a response he ran with
That’s where we are.
Bennett isn’t wrong here

That fact that he would like out puts the Flames at a disadvantage when it comes to any possible trades. And his agent did Bennet no favours also. Think on that for a minute.
I don't buy the team team doesn't want to gve him a role. Management and coaches have been more than fair with him over the years and offered him numerous chances to define his role on the team. He only has himself to blame.
If he wants out, I hope Tre gets a good value in retrun.

Makes sense, no?

Did you see Bennet on the PP tonight with Monahan & Gaudreau?

Oh good! Another thread we can debate whether or not Bennett deserves better linemates!

Not sure what you mean, friend
I don’t know the guy.
I am fully open to upgrading on the guy if it makes sense for the team.
He has been a disappointment in terms of where he is at now, and also how he has been managed. They are related
Lots of people have really simple views

I questioned it mostly based on superficial things like your username and profile pic, it wasn't a slight against you as I was genuinely curious.
And ill also agree he hasn't been managed the best, but even if he had been taken care of in the most optimal way, he seems to have a brick between his ears. He won't be the flames worst draft pick ever but he won't be terribly far off

No. One game at a time, here and there, in spot chances, is not ‘numerous chances’
Many others have volunteered linemate data
Mangiapane had an atrocious 11 game pointless streak with Backlund and Tkachuk, and the unwavering support of coaches, which seems like an opportunity and patience
Just because you and others have this opinion that Bennett has had every opportunity doesn’t mean it is consistent with reality
The data is there

The user name predates him.
The pic came later as he has a great stache
If he has traded it will probably be replaced by Seth Bullock from Deadwood, once I can be bothered to figure out how to resize a pic to 100x100 pixels

I remember watching Bennett play in Penticton after being drafted. I think it was Gaudreau's 2nd year at the tournament and he was just streets better than the other Flames prospects at the time.
But I distinctly recall one offensive play where Bennett managed to slip the puck to Gaudreau in the slot for a great scoring chance, but it was such a slick play that Gaudreau was taken by surprise and couldn't finish it - something that had happened time and again during the tournament with Gaudreau's passes to other players. I thought we had another prospect on the team with the skill and vision to keep up with Johnny.
That's about the last flash of high end brilliance I can recall seeing from Bennett. Whether he got great opportunities or not, high calibre players always at least show flashes of brilliance here and there. Why Bennett stopped showing them I'll never know. Maybe he just finally found himself in a league where his skill and vision rose only to (or below) the mean, and he simply couldn't develop his game to compensate. Whatever the case, I have no doubt we'll never see him become much more than he is today - there are just no flashes of anything great skill or magic in his game.
That said, Bennett isn't unique in being a player who excels in the playoffs but not the regular season. Back when the Flames regularly made the postseason we all knew this: there were guys you kept on the roster because they rose to the big games. Most of us likely tend to forget that given the sporadic appearances the Flames have made in the playoffs lately.
So I'm happy to see him move on, but the Flames needn't rush. If they can get back to the playoffs this year they'll be glad to have him, even if it's only for a handful of games.

I wonder if we can do a one for one with new Jersey for Michael McLeod. He's a RHS that can skate like the wind but hasn't really able to break through similar to Bennett.

This organization is so far up its own ass.

To be fair Simone was a plus player almost every year but 1. Also doesn't take that many penalties and has about the same points per game as Bennett. Nice Bennett showed up in the playoffs but theres 82 games in front of that you need to be productive in.
Bennett should have been seasoned a bit in the Ahl . Even a year or 2 . Even the no goods sent Drisaddle back to the whl.

Don't get whatever joke that was... but he has 117 minors in 371 games and he only plays about 14 minutes of ice time. 1.4 minors per 60. More anecdotal, maybe other fans disagree, but it seems like 90% of them are hooking or slashing calls when he stops moving his feet and reaches. I really want him to succeed, most excited I ever was at a draft when they picked him. But for me, he's right where he deserves to be on the 3rd line based on his regular season production and discipline.
I haven't lost hope on him completely and don't blame him for wanting a change but hard for me to get behind the idea of handing him more icetime based on recent play. I had a lot of hope he was turning the corner after 2018-19 and what an advanced stats monster he was that year, despite the lack of points, but for me it hasn't happened.
I dont think the flames benefit at all from trading him though woth his current value- play out the season and let seattle pick him, or show him where his stock is at if they don't.
