This team is not very good. Too much bloat, too many guys looking for someone else to be a difference maker. Hamilton, Monahan looking at you specifically.
|
Ugh.... same old.
The pieces are there. The team has a lot of potential IMO but I think players are being used incorrectly and the lines/bench are not being managed as well as they could be with this specific team.
Also some very up and down play from certain players. Brodie, Hamilton, Monahan, the third line guys of late. Flipping between terrible, invisible, and great. Even Backlund has been more up and down than his usual steady self.

Of course I would pull him, and so would most any other team in the league, and if the Flames don’t have enough confidence in Lack to do that, it’s a big problem.
|
You really think most teams would have pulled their starter after one goal?

Bottom 6 forwards are once again costing us this game. They don’t contribute enough offensively to make up for all the stupid penalties, turnovers and goals they allow. The top 2 lines are keeping this team afloat and the bottom 6 and special teams are doing their best to drown this team. If Paul George doesn’t fix the PK by the time this road trip is over, he should find himself another job because we don’t have all season long for this mess of a penalty kill to continue.

The Flyer's PP goal is instructive of the Flames' bad PP. They got a shot through and buried the rebound. CGY's PP1 does not get quality shots, it passes the puck endlessly and it results in nothing but time killed. 5v4 PP I'm talking about.
Cameron is pissing away potential wins with keeping things going on this insane track. Change it up already!

Especially when the guy on the bench has a .813 save percentage

The Flames are a structural crap show in all facets, just ridiculously easy to score against.

Jankowski got a great chance at the end of the period but yes. So far only one line getting anything done out there.

Pulling goalies after an early is not what "most other teams" would do. Agridiculous

Everyone is over reacting here a little bit. It's a long season and outside of those two seeing eye shots our 5v5 play is really strong. We need to figure out our special teams and then we should be fine.
Last year the PP and PK were quite strong to finish the year so don't give up on the team yet.
Bad luck on those two point shot goals and Versteegs penalty was not a penalty, that weak Vorachek call shortly after comfirms this.
At the very least flip out at the end of the game, we have 2 periods to get back in this!

|
Smith has been falling apart lately. This is not a one off game. I think he’s getting too many starts.
I don’t like Lack at all. He shouldn’t be on the team if he can’t be relied upon. That’s on Treliving though. If we can’t even put him in to stop the bleeding we are in big trouble. Smith can’t stand on his head for 70+ games.

I just remembered the game was on so I caught up by reading this game thread. Yikes.
I'm watching now so here comes the comeback.

Getting tired of dominating territorially and then one bad mistake and it's in the back of the net. Need more focus from everyone but Johnny

this team is similiar to the flames team around 2009. you have a pretty good starter, i know smith isnt Kipper but he is a good goalie. both teams were terrified to start the backup and they both had this "great" defense. in 09, we had regehr, phaneuf and bouwmeester, now we have Gio, Brodie, Hamilton and Hamonic.

Cant wait to hear how GG goes and sits in a broom closet after the game instead of addressing the team on its play again like a real coach

Do you have some sort of reading comprehension problem? I never said to pull him after the first goal, I said he looked off and he should be pulled if it continued. He should have not started the second period.
