No I wasn't trying to be a jerk.

There is a difference between the optimal, logical conclusion that I stated and what is politically palatable in different jurisdictions.

And CliffFletcher was trying to argue the extreme. What he said and what I said were not the same thing.

"Recycling [the carbon tax] 100 per cent back into the economy"?

Jesus. It would appear the only thing this government is adept at is spin doctoring.

Maybe they'll realize a cheaper and more efficient way to keep 100% of the carbon tax in the economy is to not collect it in the first place.

It looks so much worse for them to not even bother to entertain what are probably some of the largest employer groups in the province. Even if they took the meeting and then told them to get lost it would look better.

Perhaps Alberta's corporations should form a union.

The Brotherhood of Alberta Employers.

Maybe then they would get something from this government.

NDP MLA flips Wildrose MLA the bird in the leg, lies to the deputy speaker about it, lies to the media about it, but gets busted because the sergeant-at-arms saw him do it. So Notley marches him out to recite a pre-prepared apology and praises him for "taking responsibility".

These are the kind of antics I've come to expect when we have children running our province.

This is why I laugh when people say we need more average, everyday people representing us in government. The CBC program This is That did a very funny skit parodying the session of a small-town municipal council made up of randomly selected citizens. Looks like we're seeing that parody acted out in the Alberta legislature these days.

As much as I want to agree, the grown men and women generally aren't much better. Decorum in Commons is frequently lacking, though rarely do we see a transgression quite like this. So in that respect, I won't say the NDP are worse overall, just that they aren't going to improve things.

But how the hell can Notley stand there and praise someone who lied twice and only apologized because he had to for taking responsibility? Taking responsibility would have been to admit fault and apologize immediately once the speaker called him out on it.

Zero would be great I mean corporations don't pay taxes anyways....so what's the point

No idea what the last paragraph is about.

Speaking of attempted deflection, according to the NDP, contract law is a "loophole". But nice try by the government in attempting to push its own failure to do due diligence before changing the laws as an abuse by those evil corporations for exercising a negotiated exit clause in their contracts.

Imagine what it would be like to have a government that cared about its industry?

First came the news from George Osborne that the UK is easing taxes on the North Sea industry to help producers. "The chancellor halved a supplementary charge levied on offshore fields and completely abolished a 30 per cent petroleum revenue tax," says The Guardian.

Who needs industry? The Government is going to take care of us.

NDP are no good, Joe Ceci and the unemployment rate in Alberta is looking visually better . . .

Hell, this would be comedy gold if it wasn't gutting our province.

Well, at least you will have a position - someone will have to count the ration cards, and the inmates at Joy From Labour camps.

"Joy From Labour" Camp? I think I went there for a summer camp once as a kid.

I think their slogan was:

"You will love this summer camp. Or else."
