Language is relative, which is why, in intelligent circles, it's based on intent and that society's interpretation of those words. Redskin is not a term Americans go around using to pejoratively insult natives. So some 40+ years into a team's existence some group of people (highly likely it wasn't natives) suddenly saying it's this racially disparaging term is quite a surprise.

Of course, reasonable arguments are moot.. someone is offended! And thus commence with the argument of hysteria which is getting rather boring now.
