Yeah definitely worth the risk. The Stamps managed to draft #1, #3, #4 on CFL Scouting List. Not a bad draft at all.

I think the Stamps did well in this draft. They gambled on 2 players but I definitely think it will pay off in the future. Pierre Lavertu remind me of when Huf traded to get Edmonton's first pick overall to draft Dmitri Tsoumpas. From what I heard Lavertu might play this coming season and could be a starter. I am not sure of Quinn Smith steroid status though. I heard he won't be allowed to play in CIS football this coming season. So he might be with Stamps unless CFL have some problem with his steroid problem too.

Smith took a substance that had the banned product in it. He accepted what he did and sent an apology letter to all teams. He's waiting results on a second sample.
It is refreshing to see a player outright admit he messed up instead of denying it and fight it till he was proven otherwise and then admit it.
He will likely make the Stamps, backing up Mace imo.

I don't reall watch CIS football much especially the past few years but if all the stuff that I've been hearing about our draft picks are true, then Stamps will be in good shape. They drafted OL PIERRE LAVERTU from Laval, a lot was saying he is CFL ready which is good because we lost Tsoumpas, Deane and Gott from last season, DL QUINN SMITH supposed to be the Top 3 earlier but stock fell off due to banned substance product problem. I heard the guy can play both sides of the field and ready good with pass rush. This is also a good thing since Justin Phillips is no longer in Calgary, Ettiene Legare and Junior Turner was not a factor last season and to tough it off we lost our import pass rusher Cordarro Law. Corey Mace is a good Canadian DL but he's been injured a lot. So having Smith will help especially if the report on him are accurate. Stamps also drafted LB MAX CARON of Concordia, highly talented OL LAURENT DUVERNAY-TARDIF who would have been drafted first overall if he wasn't on the NFL radar. I actually like this gamble by Huff. I am not sure he will stay in the NFL longer but I could be wrong. Speedster DB ADAM THIBAULT of Laval I heard is good. Maybe he can replace Eric Fraser on safety. Western OL JOE CIRCELLI, Queens DL DEREK WIGGAN, McMaster K/P TYLER CRAPIGNA (i think he will stay in McMaster a year or more since Paredes and Maver will be in Stamps lineup next season and probably be another) and Western WR BRIAN MARSHALL.
I love how Huff stocked up the prospect pool with OL and DL but still pick up players from other positions even though we already stocked up with players in K/P, non-import WR and even non-import DB plus non-import LB as well.

I loved the draft by the Stamps, they understand that a good O line and D line is how to win games

Well they only played about 7 seconds of a 10 minute interview.
But basically Mo Price does have a right to express himself, however that right begins and ends with the social media policy of the Stampeders and the CFL. So he has to face the consequences.
They asked if the Stamps should cut or trade him. I said, no, since another team would pick him up it would just appear to be shuffling a problem and not dealing with
Would the Stamps lose fans? I don't believe so, they might lose a small number, but its more then likely that their telephone's light up for a day or two.
I said that this is an excellent opportunity for the Stamps to do outreach to the schools and communities to talk about the inclusive nature of sports and that everyone plays.
I think that's it. They showed our website blah blah blah

Butler pulls a Patrick Kane and beats up a Calgary cabbie.
Quote:
Calgary police have confirmed Quincy Butler has been charged with two counts of common assault in connection to an alleged incident which occurred outside of Cowboys Casino early Thursday morning.
According to police, Butler entered a taxi at around 3:00 a.m. in the 400 block of 12 Ave. S.E. The cab driver asked Butler for a deposit which prompted Butler to exit the vehicle. Butler is alleged to have walked to the driver’s door and struck the driver several times.

Butler is a guy with all the athleticism in the world but seems to be a loose cannon at times. I remember at his first training camp he kept trying to pick fights with some of the veteran receivers and had to be told off numerous times by the coaches

We interviewed Butler on our podcast back in 2012 and he was the nicest guy.
He was willing to spend $100.00 in cab fare to get to us and get home
anyways its a couple shows down for anyone that wants a listen

Okay I am not saying Butler is innocent but when did the cabbie starts asking for a deposit? I guess I haven't use a cab in Calgary for years so maybe I am missing something here. We don't really know the real story here but why would Quincy just started hitting the guy. Did the cabbie calls him names like the N-word when he refused to give deposit or what? Or It is true that Butler hit him for no reason. I wasn't there and did not witness the incident. I guess I'll have to wait for both parties to explain what really happened before I make the judgment.

Sad to see, Burke was a classy player, even when he left to go to Edmonton he still appeared on our show and was one of the first guys to show up as a guest when we were a fledgling show.

I read his tweets and he thanked the Calgary Stampeders but there was no mentioned of Eskimos. I like Dales especially with his booming punts. I didn't think he would leave the Stamps but I guess it happens. I wish him luck in the future.
