Only way I can see us getting 3rd is if Bennett or Monahan would be in the deal (obvious no go from Treliving). Friedman on the fan has been adamant the Yotes want centers badly

Yea, getting that pick would be real difficult. Don't see any realistic way it happens. Unless Calgary takes Mike Smith's contract or something, but even then I don't think it would ever happen.

I'm curious as to what possible pieces with combinations of Reinhart, Granlund, Jooris, Byron and maybe Stajan would fetch from the Coyotes. Not in terms of picks, but farm pieces or spare pieces. Buffalo would also be an interesting place to see what you can get for those guys (Also weak on centre?).
Not that I'm saying we ship them off for the first offer they send back, but assuming spare parts and farm pieces for other spare parts and farm pieces, whether there are interesting options available.
I make this comment due to the Knight for Shore trade. Interested to see if Treliving does more of these types of trades (ie: Farm pieces)

Although I am wondering now if it was a mistake as the Flames logos have gone back to Coyotes. Had me excited for a second though with what ever they were anticipating.

Anyone who can watch those videos of Skinner and say with a straight face that they believe that he is 5'11" 200 lbs, well I have some real estate in Florida that you might be interested in.
Trades aren't just about trying to acquire a good player, they're about improving your team. And for the Flames, the absolute LAST thing they need is a small, soft, scoring winger. You guys are aware that the Fames were 5th or 6th in scoring last year, right? And they are adding Bennett to the mix this year.
There is no way in hell the Flames would trade Ferland for Skinner. Regardless of what each of their relative values are. And Skinner's wouldn't be as high as some of you think, due to the concussion history.

I think he's going to be a consistent 15-20g, 30-40p player for us once he hits his prime and with the way he plays, I just wouldn't want to give that up. He's a unique player, he's talented, he's young and he's a beast. In short, he's a guy you keep, not trade for more of what you already have in abundance.

I think that Ferland would go through a brick wall for Hartley. You gotta keep him.

Yotes make a decent trade partner. I wonder how much a Boedker, Gormley/Stone package would cost?

Lol, Oilers never going to change.
Going for yet another backup who will get a starting job with their AHL defense.

This makes me feel good, because it tells me that Chiarelli still doesn't have a grasp on the true problems with the Oilers.
It's not the goalies, it's the forwards and their commitment to team defense.
The new coach should solve that problem, but if the Oilers want to spend assets, go ahead. Hopefully they give up the 16th overall for him.
I don't see Talbot as any better than Scrivens or Fasth, or Dubnyk.

I'm with you here. Skinner is an immense talent but he would get eaten alive in the Pacific division. Factor in his worrying concussion history and recent stats and I just don't see a fit here.
Ferland showed enough in the Vancouver series to prove his worth. Having he and Bouma tag-teaming other teams defences on the forecheck is something we're going to need if we're ever going to compete on the West Coast.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't Monahan and Bennett worth more than a 3rd? Bennett maybe not as much as Monahan yet but they are what you want your third overall to turn into.
Pretty much takes all the risk out of it.
