US travel to the Rockies is exploding. It's better and cheaper than comparable US destinations. Like 50% or more cheaper.
So this flight is more a route that's about getting people into Calgary to get to Banff, and not a route about getting Calgarians elsewhere.
It's a bit like the direct flights from Japan 10 or 20 years ago. Many may not recall when going to Banff there was a massive Japanese population of tourists, like basically every tourist was either Japanese or German. Now you see more people from Mexico or Brazil then either Germany or Japan.
