If Kadri would only waive for Toronto, then yes he does.

I guess trying to screw the Oilers over sure but giving them a high 2nd doesn't make a lot of sense.
What spot would Holloway get on our roster 4th line?

Oof, the Sens are terrible. Staios has got to be wanting to make some moves, right? Can't fire the coach, got themselves a number 1 goalie. Can even see them getting desperate to change things up. The Tkachuks are a competitive bunch and Brady's got to be mighty pissed every game seeing zero success with the Sens since he's been drafted and many years left on his deal.

Broberg was a 2nd
Holloway was a 3rd
Holloway has 13 points in 25 games, which is just behind our leaders in points. Big difference is he's 22 years not 31 and 33

Not trying to diminish what he has done, just looking at roster in camp we could hardly fit any of our own deserving players.

Wonder if Chicago might be a dark horse candidate for Vladar. Broissoit has not yet played and just had another knee surgery, so he's out for at least another 6 weeks and who know what he will look like then? Soderblom has been good, but if he plays 4 more games he's no longer waiver eligible. Mrazek is being overworked and reported it's starting to show. The Hawks have 2 2nds in 2025, 3 in 2026, and 2 in 2027. I don't think they would trade a 2nd for Vladar without having another pick coming back, but they also have 2 3rds and 4 4ths over the next 3 years.

I don’t think Chicago cares enough to try and get a goalie sadly.
They’re in full tank again.

Having Holloway probably would have meant no Coronato getting NHL reps.
Plus, the players would have had to sign the offer sheets, which wouldn't be a guarantee especially if they were already contemplating one from St. Louis at the same time.
Imagine Conroy paying a fee to get our 3rd round pick back just to then lose out on an offer sheet plied to Oilers players. That wouldn't be a good look.

They're going to have to get one eventually - they have nothing in the pipeline. And some D. Looks like Korchinski took a step backwards.

They are, but I think they really wanted to take a step this season, as unrealistic as others may have thought it. And I think you see more and more teams seeing the endless rebuilds other teams go through and are starting to think you have to break that cycle at some point.
As well as long-term, Soderblom is no doubt better served in the AHL instead of barely playing in the NHL.

Well not really as it takes two sides to make a deal.
Conroy should and I imagine has told Treliving to get realistic.

That seems like an over-reaction. You clearly don't like him. But what was specifically wrong with what he said? He's been trying to find out a piece of info and can't. That's it.
If you are that irritated by him - why click on it?

It must be infuriating for Conroy to hear a trade proposal for Kadri from Treliving:
Treliving: “I won’t give you anything of value and you’ll have to retain half of his salary cause it’s a terrible contract for a mid-30s player.”
Conroy: “You are the one who signed him to that contract!”

Vladar would be traded if someone was offering a 2nd, so you can safely assume a 3rd is current value in my eyes.
Kuz is $5.5M healthy scratch cap dump.
So, that's a 3rd+5th. Not a 1st.
|
Kadri has 4 more years after this year not 3. The Flames would be lucky if someone is willing to pick him up for nothing
Same with Kuzmenko, just because he is a scorer that can’t score or do anything else
Vladar may have some value if someone is desperate but he is a depreciating asset the way the team is going

Actually, other GMs do decide a player's value by what they decide to pay for him, in the end. Sure, a seller can bid them up against someone else, but really, how many people are looking for a 34-year old center who appears to be on the decline, who has four more years after this one at a 7 million dollar cap hit? I suspect the market is not rabid.
The Flames are probably in no rush to trade him because he helps them meet the floor, he signed to be here and teams are always leery of trading those, especially small-market teams. But if they are planning to try to be good sooner rather than later, that cap space might come in handy at some point in the next 4 seasons.

There is a massive difference between Kadri at 7m and Kadri at say 4-4.5m which is what was being hinted at. I wouldn’t argue at all that at a full caphit Kadri is borderline worthless (which is exactly what Treliving offered) but that’s not what I was in disagreement with.

I doubt they give up a 2nd when Soderblom is playing much better than Vladar.
The waiver aspect has some merit though.

True. I don't know. I just find when he's trying to be poetic or the knower of hockey history, he becomes annoying.
