Well 37 years is still pretty long if you want to start it from the day after the won the Stanley Cup.
I'm turning 38 in a month.
I've seen this franchise make it past the 2nd round once in my living memory, and it was as a 6 seed that went on a magical playoff run.
I've never seen them establish themselves as a consistent contender that has a chance to win year after year. The only time in this organizations history that they've been able to do that is in that stretch from 1985-1991 where they made 2 cup finals, and won 3 division titles.
And even then our biggest rival won 3 Stanley Cups in that same time period.
I too young to remember those days or wasn't born yet, but I'd wager that even in those seasons there wasn't much joy outside of 1989 because even though the Flames were good, the Oilers were better and were winning multiple cups.
I get it's a different era, different ownership groups, different GMs, but the reality is this organization as a whole has not earned the benefit of the doubt in terms of their approach to building a winner here, especially not in the last 32 years which is the time this current ownership group has owned the team.
Is that fair to Craig Conroy and what he's trying to do here? No not really because he deserves credit for what he's done so far and what it appears he's trying to do (build the right way via the draft and by being patient)
But do I get why people are skeptical of this organizations decisions...100%

Would also make me think that the Avs are hunting for Kadri and maybe another piece as well at wing.
