Outside of certain rural pockets of Alberta and Saskatchewan, Pierre Trudeau is one of the most renowned and revered Prime Ministers in the history of the country.

That is completely untrue. Petro Canada stands for Pierre Elliot Trudeau Rips Off Canada. The Trudeau Salute. He was hated in Alberta much more than his son ever was.

FUN FACT: His infamous (in Saskatchewan, anyway) "why should I sell your wheat" quote was a rhetorical question taken out of context and used for political purposes. So the quote mining tweets we see today are nothing new.
Quote:
“Why should I sell your wheat? ... [Because the Canadian farmer] is entitled… to as much protection from the Canadian government as other producers get in other countries with whom he has to be in competition… you know these are ways in which the Canadian government can help the problem. But basically unless you take the view that the government should step in and own the farms and hire the farmers, I think we all share the responsibility and we will all have to do the best we can all together.”
My MP seems fairly reasonable compared to a lot of his party. Unfortunately he shares a big tent with some pretty awful people that can influence policy, so I can't be any part of that.
It is a nice idea that we vote for our local representative and they go to bat for us, but once in Ottawa they will toe the party line. So if the local representative is just following party orders, we are absolutely just voting for the party.

Freedom Convoy figurehead Pat King has apologized for his role in the 2022 protests, saying the fallout from his actions in Ottawa has left him unable to sleep, fearing for his safety, enduring online harassment, and facing financial ruin.
Aww, unable to sleep? that's a real shame. Fearing for safety and harassment? Man, that must be tough. I don't think anyone can relate at all to that.
Quote:
"I am extremely sorry for what happened to the City of Ottawa, and for that, I absolutely apologize for my actions," he said, adding that he "can relate" to what downtown residents experienced during the weeks-long gridlock and constant horn honking.

Convoy is supposed to roll around Lethbridge from 9am to 1pm today. Not even 10 minutes in and they caused an accident on HWY 3 through Lethbridge shutting down the road for a while.

Hope they informed the people in the accident that “WE’RE DOING THIS FOR YOU!!!”

Uh, just...refresh my memory, I'm all for a good protest from time to time, but...what are they protesting this time around?

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
Can I somehow submit the following to the judge as an example of an appropriate sentence?
I have to say...I'm one of the few people that really stuck it out with TWD and...that song was written by some band, I think they were small but they did an interview and it went something along the lines of:
"We're grateful for the exposure, but not really thrilled that our song is essentially defined as, and associated with...torture."
Which personally I thought was hilarious!
I watched TWD with my wife and changed her custom ringtone to that. She was...less than pleased. One might say under-enthused or perhaps even...whelmed. Just....yeah.

Down here they're raising funds for the three who got arrested at the Courts border convoy. Two were convicted and sentenced to 6+ years and two plead guilty to lesser charges related to weapons. That seems like 4 to me but the poster I saw said for the Coutts three...

Just ask them to wait for the pardons from Trump.
