Justin saw his dad’s experience and it didn’t deter him.

I've made this comment in a couple different threads but, I would not be surprised. They are Canada's Political Family.
So some people may think I'm joking, but I think there is a very real possibility of another Trudeau in our future.
Now...if only they'd run for a different party to stick it to dad! Now that would be funny.

That would be a pretty great storyline. Right up there with the time Belinda Stronach broke Peter McKay's heart and defected to the Liberals.

I think we are probably likely to sooner be hit with another Harper. Kid is being trained all the way up. He was working for the UCP, but now looks to be off getting an education in the States. His Xitter is full of PP retweets and bitcoin, so, uh, not a great start kiddo.

Except for the current Premier of Alberta, and the guy who is, unfortunately, likely to be the next Prime Minister.

Brian Mulroney's daughter ran for leadership PC in Ontario.
I was listening to 770 AM yesterday and was wondering who the conservative windbag was defending Pete Hegseth. Apparently Ben Mulroney has taken a turn into politics ala the Danielle Smith route.
that was surprising.

I talked with a handful who fully support the truckers and claim they are "fighting for our freedom". They had no response when I said "what are you not allowed to do now that you wish you had the freedom to do?"

I know this isn't the most popular opinion, but these 'protests' are the semi grown-up equivalent to a child throwing a tantrum in a store because their mom refuses to buy them candy.
Its pretty much the same thing.

Thats not how it really works though is it.
We dont vote for Poilievre, we vote for our local leader, unless you live in his riding.
I could vote for the corpse of Vladimir Lenin but if the rest of my jurisdiction all votes blue, what does it matter?
I didn't vote him in as CPC leader and yet there he sits. How can one be assigned blame for that?
Thats just not how the Electoral Process works. There was a guy one time, not too long ago who promised to fix this. Hows that working out?

That's a cop out unless you know nothing about how parliament works. Power is hugely centralized in the PMO/Privy Council, and backbenchers have almost zero say, so voting for a party member = voting for their leader. Most people couldn't name their member.

Surprised at Mulroney.
But Canada is full of political families. Bernier, Manning, Notley, Bennett, Joly/Allard, Crosbie, Layton, etc.

I'm assuming you live in Calgary. All the Cons here are full blow Reform Party rejects. You are what you vote for.

But thats how the Election works though.
You dont get a ballot that says 'Justin Trudeau' (unless you're in his riding) you get a ballot of your local candidate and what party they are affiliated with and make your choice from there.
Yes, voting for that candidate is effectively endorsing their party and leader, but the voter is still only voting for their local candidate.
I dont like it, but thats how it works, until someone campaigns on election reform and then doesnt do jack all about it.
I could vote for Lenin's corpse if he ran, but if the vast majority of everyone else still voted blue it wouldnt make any difference.

People just vote for the party or the leader not the candidate though

Yes, we all know how the parliamentary system technically works. We also know what considerations the electors have.
Tell me you voted for the individual because of the individual's policies and not his party's last election.

Actually, I did. Not that it mattered much. The Ocean isn't as blue as my neighbourhood.
