Somewhat adjacent, and hilarious

Alrighty, one episode in and I'm hooked. I'm an easy sucker for Soccer Documentaries anyways, but this one is just so much fun.

Reynolds and McElhenny are hilarious but at the same time just so easy to cheer for, as is Wrexham, the people, the players.

Its really fun.

Can you explain how they can make his life story without his consent ?

Theres probably a multitude of ways, but I'd start with wondering what his contractual stipulations were with his agent?

He may have sold the rights at some point? The guy isnt exactly notorious for playing solitaire with a full deck.

They probably licensed the story from Don King. The guy's still a grifter in his 90s.

I have no idea how it works or what he or his agent sold in the past.
Did a quick search, here's a writeup.

Lol! Yep. I figured.

Days before Tyson’s most recent statements, series creator Steven Rogers explained his position during a virtual Television Critics Association panel on Aug. 4. “We actually couldn’t talk to him because his life rights were already taken, so that was never on the table,”

Hard to believe that "life rights" are even a thing.

If you liked My Name is Earl then you'll probably like it.
Thank you for this, it's great so far!

From the same guy as Raising Hope too, which also had Garret Dillahunt and Martha Plimpton in it.

The more I watch it the more I realize it's basically a clone of My Name is Earl, and that's a good thing as far as I'm concerned.
Jack is basically the Earl character
Gloria is very close to Catalina
Rooster is a combination of Crabman and Randy
Barb is 100% an older version of Joy
Melvin and Wiggles remind me of that guy who fenced stolen stuff out of the storage locker and his Russian wife
They even have Tim Stack as a TV host!

All we need is Patty the daytime hooker and the whole gang would be back.

Except Earl had Margot Robbie's twin sister Jamie Pressly in it.

Spoiler!

So, because of this thread I decided to try the show 'The Bear.'

One episode in and its pretty good overall, lots of potential.

I will say this however: If you, at some point in your life suffered the misfortune of working as a line cook or almost any restaurant position this show will give you PTSD flashbacks.

We finished "The Bear" last week. Pretty great and reminded me a lot of the show runner's other show "Atlanta". Same style of dealing with the mundane, with odd/surreal moments thrown in. Great character work.

I want to see more for sure, but I will say that some of the episodes left me wanting. Definitely worth the watch overall.

I was a line cook for years through University and the first episode gave me nightmares.

Under the Banner of Heaven has been really excellent. I think I’d put it up there with first season of True Detective. Haven’t recognized any Calgary landmarks though.

The Bear is really good. Love that Matty Matheson is in it and does quite well.

What really got me so far..

Adding a bouquet garni to flavour the cream while it warms up and then adding it to mashed potatoes.

Holy crap I'm totally going to try that next time I make mash pots.

I’ve watched the available episodes of The Bear.

I dunno.

I like it. I find it holds my interest. I don’t quite get the love fest, though.
