The whole Mists of Pandaria thing is downright laughable. If they weren't adding that soon, I'd actually consider going back. But that was the icing on the cake as far as completely parting ways with the game (haven't played in a year or so now).

Not shocked they're bringing back the scroll of ressurection feature; I'm actually surprised they didn't have it in place again for a while now.

That seems kind of...desperate to me. They keep trying to get me to go back, but it's not happening. Not with TOR, ME3, and D3 out there waiting for my gaming time/$$.

Good for me.

My original account has been inactive for quite some time. I used to dual box. That account has got my original character and favorite name associated with it. I wanted to activate it to delete that toon. My original MMORPG character was a monk in Everquest, and I wanted to reroll a monk with the new expansion.

The old account doesn't have Cata. I don't even think it has WOTLK. So that'll be cool. Was thinking of dual boxing again for fun.

Scroll of res is a great idea, WOW is still the best MMO on the market that I have played (haven't tried TOR), if you have the time.

Sadly, many do not. I loved the fact they made it possible to by trade resources with honour now. I would never have to PvE even to get my enchants on pvp items, which is nice for someone who despises monster bashing.

Blizzard is a hell of a company, I think my time with WOW in any full time capacity is forever done, but I look forward to playing their future games.

I really hope they try to give DOTA 2 a run for its money, besides just in the court room.

I don't get why the hate with the new xpac. Just because of pandas? People find monk pandas in a asian setting laughable but Native American bulls, Scottish dwarves and Jamaican Trolls were normal?

I don't know - I'll try it but I don't get all the hate for Blizzard and what they're trying to do to keep their dwindling fan base. 5+ years as one of the biggest games ever, diablo 3, two more Starcraft releases and the 'Titan' MMO to come and Blizzard is 'desperate'?

Seems like some reminiscing is going on.

Blizzard is doing what they can to get some of the old player base back. Unfortunately, the game is just not what it was upon release and the few years following that. Somewhere in the middle of the WOTLK release, things just got too easy and the game wasn't fun anymore. Anyone remember how hard BRD and some of the other 5-mans were when the game first came out?

Molten Core was fun albeit requiring far too large of a group to be a sensible raid. The last really challenging raid was Sunwell and that was truly fun. After this, gear became very easy to acquire and Blizzard over compensated to cater for the casual player base. It's a fine line to walk when you're wanting to reward the hardcore player base and keep the casual ones interested. Oh well, fond memories.

TLDR: Used to be a cool game

I think that was a smart move by Blizzard - if the difficulty of the end game stayed the same I bet the user base would have dwindled a lot faster than it has. I think I heard that 5% of people experienced original Naxx? That's a crazy low % for devlopers to spend a shed load of time and money on to have no one play. Not too mention - casual players got bored fast of not being able to try end game content. When that makes up 90% of your population, you have to adapt.

Has anyone done hard mode raiding? There have been some extremely difficult encounters in Cataclysm. I have not found it to be particularly easy, but I've always raided close to the top end.

I agree and disagree. I loved the fact that in WOTLK I didn't have to put in as much time to experience the endgame content as I did in TBC, and I could get some of my life back; however, I didn't like the fact that it was just so easy to out-gear a fight. As a healer, I barely had to sweat about healing people standing in fires, because the gear was so easy to get. I would regularly solo heal 10 mans, just because I could (and that was about the only way you could be challenged after a certain point). It really is a tough call though, and you can't please everyone; they made a decision that would benefit the vast majority, and that's good business sense.

Somewhere after the first few months of Cata, the game kind of lost it's excitement for me. I haven't played since about this time last year, and there's nothing really in the new Xpac that looks appealing enough to start up again.

Well... that and the fact that I bought TOR.
