Will be interesting to watch.
That is just ######ed. I think Peterson is losing touch with reality. Or maybe he will get what he wants eventually and look like a genius. But in the mean time he is pissing off most of his key players.

For now, FSR placed the over under for his return to the NFL at week 6. I'm going under.

I thought he was a great addition during the draft..he seems perfectly suited to the studio. I tend to agree with you Tranny...I think he's done for good.

Do you remember when he was still with the Jets and had just released his book "Throw Me the Damn Ball"? Berman went bananas with that on Prime Time...one of the best PT highlight games ever. Boomer was showing Keyshawn was still a good teammate and when another receiver caught a pass in the highlight package Berman would say "Throw HIM the damn ball".....it was beautiful.

NFL Primetime ruled. The highlight show on NFL Network is not quite as good. Who can forget the great nicknames. Ben "Winter" Coats. Joe "Little, Big" Horn.

Assante Samuel isn't going to play until week 10, is unhappy he was given the franchise player tag:

It is wrong to be paid "only" $7.79 million dollars. How would he make ends meet?

For god's sake, he will get paid the average of the top 5 players at his position. That just strikes me as really greedy.

(question: can a team put the franchise tag on a player in consecutive years?)

Yes and it's happened a few times before.

Not sure how I feel about the Samuel thing. Can't really blame the guy for wanting some money especially with how much the Pats were throwing out to bring in players this offseason.

It isn't good enough to be paid like the average of the top 5 players? We're not talking that he is going to get the minimum. He is going to get almost 8 million dollars. The average of the top 5, so he is going to be paid at least like the 3rd best player at his position. Better than 60+ other starters at his position.

I have trouble understanding why these guys feel that they are entitled to be paid better than every other player at their position. Put the ego down and back away slowly. If the average person at the stadium was to earn $50K per year (which I doubt) then the average fan would need to work 156 years to earn what Samuel would play for, yet he is "being treated wrong"? What sort of logic is that?

Am I the only one who thinks that it is players like this that put professional athletes in a bad light? Players that cry that they are only getting $X million dollars, players that sign a contract then have one good season and decide they want more so refuse to honour the rest of that contract?

It has to do with the fact that there's no guaranteed money. If Samuel gets hurt in training camp or something and the Patriots cut him, he's not owed any money.

That's not quite true, the player is guarenteed salary for as long as his injury lasts, and if he is cut because of an injury he gets his salary for the year.

^^ Yeah.

The only down side is if he is injured then perhaps his ability at future contracts is curtailed. But that is true in the final year of a contract for any player. It was true for Samuel last year. So that argument is a strawman.

And I just saw that a player can only have the franchise tag applied 3 years in a row, and in the third year he must be paid the average of the top 5 salaries league wide (not just at his position).

Anyways, I've derailed this thread long enough.

Odell Thurman is accused of assault.
After missing last season with a suspension, I'm thinking he has just about run out of chances.
