Yes, we all know you think top goalies grow on trees in the ECHL, and you hate Markstrom because he's not working for league minimum.
Are you and dgibb10 related by any chance?

You pay for the safest bet. Who is a safer bet in net than Markstrom right now? I'll wait. Most of the handful of contenders for that honour this season he has played and beaten head to head, including Swayman and Vasilevskiy tonight.
He's led the league in saves above expected since before the midway mark of the season.
If some Devils fan think he's just another option and the Devils can find a comparable upgrade laying around anywhere, then he's an idiot and fooling himself.
Devils are welcome to go and fetch that guy for the pennies this guy thinks they're worth. They'll be back.

Ullmark quite frankly. 2 years is a better term (I do NOT want to be stuck with 36 year old Markstrom in a year where Ullmark, Shesterkin, Saros, Georgiev, Adin Hill, Logan Thompson are all UFAs)
He's younger, I think he's better, and frankly from the conversations I've had with bruins fans he'll be much cheaper.
Jarry I'd also prefer, Montembault (much smaller cap hit), Spencer Knight, Saros, Logan Thompson
This year Markstrom has been great. But frankly Calgary missed the boat. A top of the market goalie offer was out there, they passed.
Going into next season age 35 year old markstrom is anything but a safe bet

That makes sense. I’m just hoping Edwards doesn’t sign off on all trades even when money is not retained. If that was the case there would be no need for a GM.

Here is a complete list of goalies to maintain a starter workload (100+ starts over the 3 year span), while having a postive GSAx in their age 34-36 seasons since 2010
Mike Smith: 18.61 GSAx
Pekka Rinne: 6.14
Vokoun: 2.6
Luongo: 2
Henrik: 0.56

Better tell Fitzgerald/NJ front office then, it's them that wants Markstrom so bad!
We were expecting a Vladar move. Not sure why you're here barking at Flames fans. Your team started the conversation

Trade for Ullmark and move on then.

I know at least Holtz and the 2025 1st was offered, I cannot confirm what else was in there. This has also been stated by multiple insiders that get paid to do this for a living.

The problem is fanbases all think their goalie is top 3, or top 5, or top 10.
Every fanbase thinks any cold streak on their goalie is a slump, and any hot streak will last forever.

Well
Go get them then
It truly is that simple

Honestly if Calgary was smart too, that first could be valuable coming to us, and you make room for the wolf, I would take that deal in a heartbeat, mercer is good, but I think a bit over rated, don't think he projects first line potential, something they need

No, h won't be cheaper. I don't care what conversations you have had with Bruin fans, Ullmark is in his prime and coming off a Vezina trophy. He is also not available until at least the offseason. The ask for Ullmark will be substantial, almost certainly higher than Markstrom.

NJD's 2024 1st is no longer on the table, but if you prefer a pick return for Markstrom
Holtz for Markstrom (2 mill retained)
or
2025 1st+2nd+3rd for Markstrom (2 mill retained)
And frankly the offer goes down significantly in the offseason

New Jersey is the Edmonton of the eastern seaboard.
Does that make Newark double Edmonton?

Fitz more or less said Holtz is the worst player in the NHL, no? What exactly is the knock on Holtz?

Lmao, apparently you think you are the GM of the Devils, you are not. You don't get to dictate what the offers are or if they go up or down. It is already out there, everybody the Devils have spoken to in regards to a #1 goalie starts with Mercer. It isn't going down just because the season ends, this isn't how this works.
