Edit - only if first overall not top 10 .
Scenario B: If Calgary does not get Florida’s 2025 1st round pick:
If Calgary’s 2025 1st round pick isn’t in top-10, then Montreal will receive Calgary’s 2025 1st
Montreal will receive an additional 2024 4th round pick if:
Florida’s 2025 1st round pick isn’t a top-10 pick
Florida’s 2025 1st rounder has been transferred to another club (to Flyers or traded after lottery win)
Florida’s 2025 1st round pick has a higher draft position than Calgary’s 2025 1st round pick
If Calgary’s 2025 1st round pick is 2nd to 10th overall, Montreal receives Calgary’s 2025 1st round pick
If Calgary’s 2025 1st round pick is a 1st overall pick, Montreal gets Calgary’s 2025 3rd round pick and the better of Calgary or Florida’s 2026 1st round pick.

Hope the team doesn't rush, but don't miss a good opportunity.
Plan 3 years rebuild.
Trade 5 UFAs plus Vladar this year, and trade Tanev, Coleman during trade deadline.
Try to trade Kadri, there is should have some interest as FA pool is not good.
Try to trade Weegar to Ottowa, Huberdeau to Montreal and Markstrom to whereever in 2 years.
And there are will be some Okay veteran players without contact this season.
Fill the roster with our prospects plus a couple of 1 year veterans and trade them during deadline.
Who would you have left?

By the looks of things we could be a pseudo AHL team next season.

Meh...maybe 5. If you had to, you'd buy out the last couple years of those deals.

We will see though. I liked all those players very much before last year, and everything went wrong that could go wrong in that season. I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt that they will rebound to at least "solid pro" levels for the duration of the deal.

I think they have no choice but to see what they have in Kylington after a years absence before doing anything. If they traded Kylington this offseason it would be for peanuts.

On the other hand a contract negotiation doesn't make much sense from either party this summer either. They'll have to let him play and then start to see from there.

They need to do one based on the views of multi-millionaires.

New York is great if you have a ton of dough and have a deluxe apartment in the sky.

This whole series of guys wanting to leave makes me wonder if there are a LOT of untold stories from the dressing room...maybe some of the veteran players are PO'd that nobody did anything about Sutter, who had clearly "gone Bodmin" over the course of the season...and there was zero as far as we know, from Flames management or owner. Looks like Tre just gave up and Edwards, who may have forced Sutter into place, then refused to do anything about it....extending him along the way.

Nice gift to the coach, and a kick in the 'nads to the players. I'd want out too...even if the coach has been booted and the GM's gone. Who wants to play for an owner like that?

(Yup...rampant speculation, but the eye test says things are hugely amiss.)

Naw. Toffoli and Backlund both seemed to be Sutter guys. All the players seemed to be at least considering resigning a couple of weeks ago but then turned face.

Likely what happened is that they all tried (are trying) to strong arm the team into fat contract like Huberdeau did. The Flames have flat out said no. Now these guys are all looking to cash in elsewhere. These guys are all older and likely wanting term that the team won't provide.

Meh, whatever. F*** all of these guys if they don't want to be here.

It's time to get our rebuild on! This is exactly what this franchise needs.

So you think a guy that multiple sources said hated Sutter and kept saying FU to was a Sutter guy?

Neither.

Flames have no impact forwards under 27.

They have none coming.

Their goalie might be fried.

These are veteran players whose major objective is playoff success.

They won’t find that here.

Treliving worked so hard for this trade

No wonder he quit

I think Flames fans should mark this day in their calendar as a great day in Flames history. If the Flames had their choice they'd have made huge mistakes by signing these guys to overvalued contracts. This is forcing ownership's hand to do what was right in a year that is deep and ripe for rebuilding. Conroy's just gotta perform and maximize the value for each of these guys. I like the idea of keeping Toffoli until the deadline as his small salary will certainly yield a good package. But this years draft is also one of the best ones ever so do what's best to get you the best possible player.
