Flames definitely need to improve getting point pucks down low. Either on net or into the corners. If Kylington rifles one more point shot into a shin pad I might lose it.

Floating? You gave up on your team and even publically announced that you stopped watching… I get it, I’m frustrated too but at least I’m not giving up on my club and calling people trolls. Pretty sad man. Hopefully game 3 is not a gongshow.

You're a troll.

I and every one here knows and can see your posting history.

If you want to prove you're not, trash the Oilers right here and now. Never seen you do it.

Glove save on Kane in the second? Pad save on Draisaitl’s one-timer on the powerplay? After another lacklustre second, Calgary was fortunate to be tied IMO.

Markstrom hasn’t been great but he wasn’t the reason we lost tonight. Edmonton is a team that can score, especially when you feed them power plays and breakaways. I think he’ll be better once he gets used to the pace of this series and facing more high danger chances.

Markstrom's had occasional bad games in the past, but almost always has a stellar performance in the game right after a stinker. Worrisome that it's two poor showings in a row. Hoping he's not dealing with some sort of nagging injury--doesn't look like it; just looks like he's in his own head a bit.

LA also got blown out of the water twice, and simply didn't have the horses to trade punches with the Oilers like the Flames can. They really had no choice but to double down on defending.

I agree with you though - relentless forecheck is key for Calgary. Keeps Edmonton far from Markstrom, and creates more chances. Tonight they seemed preoccupied with defending. I think this was an error. More offense is what they really needed.

We've scored 12 goals through 2 games and we haven't played strong. The problem is we haven't played strong defense nor have we had good goaltending, both are strengths of this team.

If we focus on those we'll be fine. And stay out of the penalty box! Why do we have to relearn this lesson again this round? Just play hockey and don't worry about headlocks, face washes and wasting energy after the whistles.

McDavid is not all that. Flames need to stop giving him so much space. Hit hurt slash and whack the #### out of that guy. He’s their only player

Markstrom was fine.
Kylington a skiddish liability. Terrible decisions at the blue line leading to odd man rushes the other way. In no man's land in 5th goal. On Stone high stick he tipped the puck back to the Oiler player.

Again, for all the penalty talk or McDavid talk, this game and series changed on an out of position ref with a hair trigger whistle.

He can be defended better, nevertheless.

I don't think leaning on him and keeping yourself between him and the net if he isn't breaking in with speed should be as hard as they're making it look. Simply not enough effort or focus being put on him.

Hanifin did it in the second after they were burned on that break-in goal. Leaned on him for a full shift and eventually the puck ended up back out of the zone with no chances generated. He proved to himself right there that it can be defended.

never thought I would say this but i miss Bill McCreary and Kerry Fraser. Where are refs that understand playoff games?

Yep, Markstrom was bad in game 1 and wasn't spectacular tonight but wasn't terrible like some are trying to make out either.

When you let McAvi get a chance like that, let a guy with a big shot just walk in and blast it, and give up back to back breakaways in the 3rd bad things are going to happen and it's not on your goalie.

He's a lot better when the D is playing great!

Fraser wouldn't bite on their acting.

Give me the grizzled vets that make teams earn their calls.

Sutter's post-game comments were dead on. Oilers have two high-end players who can win games single-handedly if you give them time and space. They truly are a one line team.

The Flames on the other hand, like most teams in the league, have to score by committee, and they just didn't do enough tonight in terms of execution. That was the difference. That stupid brain fart that led to the shortie against was definitely the back breaker.

If Backlund scores on that breakaway to make it 3-0 early, we're probably talking about a Flames win and a 2-0 series lead. But obviously the hockey gods wanted a different outcome tonight.

any skilled player will expose you if you give them a free path to the net, give johnny that much space and time and he will do the same.

When McDingleberry ever learns defense and can back check, then i'll give him credit

Surprised no one crumpled Draisaitl.

If a guy is going to play against you while nursing an injury, make his life hell. Don't give him a free pass to actually do things out there while coasting around gingerly.

The bull's horns are right there. It's crazy that the Flames didn't just effing grab them and end these guys.

They're begging to be put out of their misery.
