Still have complete faith in these guys.
Just another lesson on the road to figuring this playoff thing out. They gave this one away though in the third period. Was pretty much by their own hand, the reffing aside.
Which means it's something we have control over. Don't think they need to focus on beating the Oilers, just completing their own assignments. Beating the Oilers will take care of itself if they do.

Things I’m concerned about:
- Can’t hold 2 goal leads and give up 4 unanswered goals in 2 successive games. Not Flames like at all.
- Really missing Tanev
- Markstrom solid but doesn’t make the game saving save
- So far no answer for McDavid. Sutter?
- Reslly missing Tanev

Only difference is that McDavid never gets called for embellishment.
I've turned the game off both times during the second period. I'm not sure if I'll bother watching anymore of them to be honest.
|
That's not the only difference. McDavid is at least 50 pounds heavier than Gaudreau and should be harder to take down with a crosscheck from behind. And how is anyone actually catching up to McDavid from behind to crosscheck him in the first place, if he's not looking for the opportunity to make a dive?

I'm OK with an embellishment call, but call it on highsticking. it's crazy, that was not even close to embellishment, and there were probably 35 headsnaps in this game, one right at the end of the game from the Oilers where his own teammates stick missed him by 2"

Dude's just floating in the GTs. Every single post negative comments pretending to be from a Flames POV.

The McDavid dick riding needs to end. We get it. He’s good. I don’t need to hear about him for 20 minutes between every period. And I don’t care what the odds are on the game. I really don’t.
And I REALLY don’t need more Ron MacLean. It’s time to take him out to pasture.

Spot on!
The games are increasingly hard to watch. Not a pleasant entertainment for family viewing. Cheating refs and pushing gambling to your audiences young and old is so sleazy.

The way to win against this team is to beat them not with defence, but with offence. They like an all out offensive battle because they have two of the best offensive players in the game. But the Flames can beat them at this game because they also have some of the best offensive players in the game, and a better defence.
So, the way I see it is the Flames should just assume and accept that Edmonton will score 6 goals, so all they have to try to do is score 7 or more. Quite literally, the best defence is a good offence, especially with Tanev out.
Disappointing outing tonight, but for me the problem was a lack of offensive output more than anything else.
|
L.A held them to under 4 goals 3 tines including a shutout. Markstrom has been really bad and the team can do a way better job. Not taking penalties and making cute plays at the Oilers blueline is what's key.
How many times did our d hit shin pads causing a break the other way. This and sone cute plays on entry were disastrous. Team needs to play the blue collar hard working forcheck getting it deep to win.

######bomb should have been called for one on the first penalty. He acted like he got his face broke and then shot up like it was nothing and gloated.

Sleazy describes it very well.
Feels like "The Good Old Hockey Game" definitely describes the NHL of old that no longer exists today.

Scoring Winger

Someone mentioned the refs being out of position on the Toffoli goal call back.
Being at the game, you certainly notice things that you wouldn't normally see on TV and man, there were several plays where a player was breaking from the neutral zone into the offensive zone going wide and the ref was still standing in the circle. And I just kept saying get the #### out of the way. I don't think I've ever seen that before.

Yes. Flames quit playing when it was 3-1. If they lose the series, tonight’s game will be the reason.

Average at best is generous. He’s been awful.

Didn't sign up for spin the officiating wheel when we went into a playoff BOA.
Don't ruin the BOA, NHL.
You're ruining it.

From this point forward I think that all game 2's should be banned from NHL playoffs.

Maybe Darryl needs to chat with LA coach re how to contain McDavid.
LA was up 3-2 in their series on EDM. Will we get that opportunity?
Also am worried about the Flames letting up on teams on the ropes. It happened in Round 1. Man you have a 2 goal lead mid way through game 2. Lock it down and this could be a very short series.

I noticed this too. They were in the way all night and obviously out of position on the 2 called back.

Flames haven’t got a lot of bounces this series so far and it’s 1:1.
Need to be more disciplined and her the game at 5v5.
Special teams loses them the game tonight. PP goal against, 4v4 goal against, SH goal against.
Two PPs in the third. 2 shots, 2 shots against, 1 goal against. That’s the game.
