Everybody on the panel just smiling and nodding at Ron as he rambles on and tries to be a poet. WTF.
Thought the panel last series had great chemistry. Hate that they broke that up to bring Ron back. Just retire already.

On the 4-1 goal by Coleman, Mangiapane wins a board battle with Darnell Nurse to keep possession. How does Darnell Nurse lose a board battle to Andrew Mangiapane? That guy is going to be stealing from the Oilers next year when that extension kicks in. So much standing around.

Moneypuck had it at 5-2 flames and we had an 85% chance of winning on the meter.

Reason 1a I don't watch panel. Bieska is the only one to bother with.
Cuthbert and Simpson definitely showed their bias too.

Yah - I "listened" on mute. Turned it on when I wanted to know something. Glorious.
Maybe I'll try channelling Wills on the radio (streamed of course) and trying to get it in sync with the TV. Listening to the constant fellation of the Oilers is nausea-inducing.

I'm not turning 96. But I'm about to head off to bed and celebrate the big win with my partner. So congrats to both of us!

Also I’m very happy that Mangiapane-Backlund-Coleman were reunited.
2 GF and 86% expected goals tonight. 63% xGF as a line in the playoffs as a whole.
Should have never been separated as they were a top line in the regular season too.

Man, I thought there was a lot of positives to take from tonight - top line’s looking dangerous as ever, secondary scoring is alive and well (Coleman is a stud), Looch and the boys are dominating physically and the resiliency this team has is second to none. Zero panic.
They’ll clean up what they’ve gotta clean up and be all the better for game 2

I'm coming around to the idea that - as amateurish a game as that seemed after the Dallas series - it may just be a matter of the Flames being able to adapt to any kind of game the opponent wants to play.
In this case, if they can't stop McDavid, then they just outscore McDavid - just like they did the last time. It actually makes sense in a way: McDavid can be the difference in a 3-2 game, but he can't be the difference in a 9-6 game, so just open it up and trade punches with no defence (but hopefully better goaltending next time).
The Flames should really take this series quickly, especially if Draisaitl continues to look like a bag of rotten potatoes. I think that guy has both a high-ankle sprain and Covid. Flames need to knock this team out before he recovers from one or the other.
My only concern about this series now is that the Flames may lose some of the good habits Dallas kindly taught them before going into a likely match-up with the Avs. They certainly can't play like that at any rate.
