Excellent!

Nice to know that Markstrom can have his worst period as a Calgary Flame and maybe of his career, and the Flames can still win by 3 goals.

Markstrom getting possessed by the spirit of Trevor Kidd is the only reason that wasn't a blowout.

I wouldn't blame him for every goal but atleast half. Atleast he calmed down in the third though.

Because that was a stinker lol
Geoff Ward would have had Rittich flown in so he could replace Markstrom.

Flames are the better team by far just a rough 2nd period by Markstrom kept this one closer than it needed to be. Good solid third though to restore command of the game. Take the W and clean it up next game.

Whew! Thank goodness they pulled it out.

On another note I remember how much I loathe Ron McLean.

That was way more stressful than it needed to be. Thankfully we got the W and the early lead in the series. Sutter will not be pleased at all with that 2nd period.

Good to see the team rally behind Markstrom in the 3rd and get him the win though. He knows he struggled tonight and I have no doubt that both he and the team will be much better defensively in game 2.

Another lesson learned: never take your foot off the gas when you have a team on the ropes, especially when they have a guy like McDingus who can score at will if you give him the time and space to do it.

Johnny had one less point than McIceHog in about 8 less minutes of ice time.

Just keep outscoring them 3-1 in 2 out of every 3 periods.

Tkachuk trolling Kane hard in the penalty box was hilarious. Kept saying, "you poor bastard" over and over lol

Honestly feel that Markstrom was just getting bored. There was no tension at all in the early part of this game unlike every single minute of the dallas series. Good to see him lock it down for the end.

Need to start game 2 on time. The no goods won’t be this terrible again.

Honestly, I may have spread some bad juju as I was actually thinking I'd rather it not be a massacre right off the bat.

So to have it get to 6-6 and then just take over again, just like all of round 1, this makes us better.

Markstrom will get better, he had a rough night and everyone knows it, including the Coil. The two on the other end? This is pretty par for the course, and similarly, the Coil know it.

Also love how you already know Sutter's going to be, it's just 1 win, doesn't mean a thing.

Go Flames Go!!!
Love Gulutzan and his magic rectangle. I can't believe we have a coaching matchup Darryl Sutter vs Glen Gulutzan. Hilarious.

Anyway that was our stinker of the playoffs and we still won. I'm feeling pretty good that they and Markstrom particularly will get back to their usual ways
