Assuming you mean me and if so I apologize to the board for that, I thought mine was in line with some sarcastic approaches but perhaps the satire one was too much.

When those got posts got a huge overreaction from FlamesGimp and PM's about legal and police action that solidified the negative feelings I was having about the whole thing. Genuinely hope Im wrong

I'm definitely willing to give FG some benefit of the doubt here. Seems he may have got a little over-zealous and excited about the cup run (I certainly was as well). The time table for getting the work done is just a lot longer than anticipated. That seemed pretty obvious from the start.

It makes more sense to put general Flames art on the van, as opposed to player specific decorations. He should take the time to have this done properly too. It's his vehicle. Haphazardly getting bad work done, in the middle of the off-season, doesn't make much sense.

Perhaps more updates and better communication would be appreciated. Also, a lot of posters in here acting like FG is their employee to lord over, because they made a donation of $20-40.

FG has also been a great poster here for a while, the comparisons to PIM_King (who appeared to be more of a serial scammer), aren't really justified.

I am picturing a mod doing a deep dive into every new account that signs up saying, This time for sure it's MMF! Every time a relatively new poster makes a sarcastic comment, he messages the rest of the mods and says, I told you it was MMF! Why is no one listening to me?!?! Meanwhile the real MMF is on a beach sipping pina colodas.

Or, maybe there is a non-mod account that MMF wronged in the past, and he just reports every new account as MMF hoping to be right one time. He'd rather keep out 99 new accounts, just to ensure that 1 MMF doesn't get through.

I don't know. I'm just asking questions and proposing crazy theories as I haven't been around these parts in a while.

LSS:

He asked for money to help him get and furnish an apartment, claiming to otherwise be homeless. Some CPers paid. CP became suspicious when he showed a bunch of pictures of his new IKEA furniture, as opposed to buying used cheaper furniture.

CP did some investigation (which was pretty easy, because this guy had left a trail all over the internet) and found out he was a serial scammer and had done this before on other forums. He'd also posted on social media about some relatively high end purchases, such as buying an X-Box and a diamond ring for his fiancee.

He'd also claimed to have a knee injury, but that didn't jive with his bragging about his fitness accomplishments. Further investigation showed that he'd been on a bunch of steroid forums, and had scammed members out of payment for sed steroids.

lol, uh why?
The dude has stole money from users on this forum.
Don’t understand why people are trying to defend him.

Man up and post the real story and maybe people can understand.
Editing posts and lying is dumb.

No skin in the game but poster seems genuine enough to get it done. He wouldn't try to meet up in real life and have a BBQ if he had something to hide. I'm sure he's deleting old posts because he's rattled from others skeptic about his intentions. If he says start of the season now, that's the line drawn in the sand and that's when pitchforks can and should come out.

Well, except he’s promised deadlines before. I have no skin either but rather than say “wait until October” I’d recommend some photos and updates and maybe even showing donors what the quotes and drawings look like. That in fact would make this thread really good.

Like others, I also didn't mean to pile on or make it a witch hunt. I was just genuinely confused by some responses. They just didn't line up with what he had previously said.

I only quoted a recent post that seemed to suggest something different than he was bringing forth yesterday. The point was that he could just ease everyone's mind with a quick, clear recap of what's actually happening currently.

I have to say, deleting old posts yesterday instead of responding, then popping on quick today and saying he won't be on CP for awhile when he posts frequently did the opposite of alleviating concerns, imo. But it's done now and I guess we just wait and see in October.

One of the times I laughed the loudest on here. What old poster are you? Before your join date and pretty sure it got taken down back then.

last night I got hold of him and said he's happy to get it done, i replied asking "dd you print everything idon't want waste your material " haven't received response yet.
Just as an example, this is something that could ease concerns. There was discrepancy in whether the materials were printed or not, and that was huge as it was given as the reason no refunds could be given.

He left this suggesting that he successfully spoke to the guy yesterday and left with asking whether the materials were printed. If the guy responded last night they he would have responded to the follow up today.

I mean I'll leave it now, but this is something that should have been an easy update for donaters. "The materials are printed, I'll be going through with it" or "the materials aren't printed, I can refund if that's what others would like".

Not trying to make excuses for him but he probably tried to eat more than he could chew in regards to the deadlines. Especially because it was donated money he probably felt an obligation to get it done ASAP, as a result he over promised so he could avoid facing the scrutiny as he is getting right now. I could be wrong too but from an outsider looking in, I lean on the side of giving the OP the benefit of the doubt. I just think his deadlines were a bit ambitious, especially getting automobile custom graphics. I guess we'll see in October or if they delete their account before then.

I know - I’m just saying maybe don’t take the fact he’s given himself a deadline as something significant.

I just think more transparency, not less, is the better way to go here.

Condolences. I enjoyed MMF, and how he'd needle Oilers fans. It's why I don't visit Oilerspuck.com as their knowledgeable posters, would surely rinse me with their hockey prowess.
