Agreed. In for a penny, in for a pound. Spend all the FA money. This is going to be an awful crash and burn at some point but it’s clear the rebuild is not an option with their recent moves. Might as well embrace it now.

Obviously unless someone else gets dealt, Calgary doesn't sign Hyman until after the ED.

If Hyman gets signed and Monahan gets moved for futures, the money is actually relatively unchanged and you could run:

Gaudreau-Lindholm-Hyman
Tkachuk-Backlund-Mangiapane
Lucic-Dube-X
X-X-Ritchie

with Xs maybe including Pelletier, Gawdin, Ruzicka, Phillips, Froese or maybe even Zary

on the DFO Rundown podcast Seravalli guesses that Hyman will end up in Calgary. Friedman thinks Edmonton

I hope we don't price ourselves out of paying eatbread what he's worth. If I'm him and we give Hyman 6.5 to 7, then that's where I go too.

I want the Oilers to pick up Phil Kessel.

Bobby Mac's would have a spokesman!

Mang will be worth it, and then hopefully our top-6 wingers for the next half decade will be:

Gaudreau - Hyman
Mangiapane - Tkachuk

That’d be pretty good.

Mangi has a career high of 32 points and some want to give him the moon

I get the PTSD but for me Hyman is not Neal...Neal did one thing well (until he stopped doing it) Hyman is a pretty complete player IMO

Hyman has a similar smell to the Brouwer signing.

Similar age
Complete player
18-20 goal guy
35-40 points

Don't like it. Feels like another buyout candidate.

Hyman is younger and his analytics are quite a bit stronger, but certainly if you sign him for 5+ years, the expectation is likely that you will be buying him out at some point.

well I'm not sure what size of moon people want to give Mangiapane but he's 4 years younger than Hyman- so the anxiety of the back half of the deal is different if you are talking 7 years with both guys

I actually like Hyman as a player and have already conceded he makes any team better on the front half of any deal being suggested. clearly he's a different player than Neal

Hyman reminds me of Hagman.

It scares me because they both appear(ed) to be a product of better line mates who the media overhyped because they were in Toronto.

Hagman was 30 when the Flames acquired him, Hyman is 29.

In before Hyman takes less money to come to Calgary instead of Edmonton.

Huge change in underlying numbers though.

Honestly I don't know how the Flames just looked by the sub 50's on Brouwer and thought he'd be a good idea. Have to think Snow was ignored.

Hyman has much better wheels, no? Which is something this team needs.

If Hall is going to the market then I think that is who the Flames need to chase. We need that high end skill more than what Hyman brings. He is a much better fit with Edmonton anyway as he is proven to be a nice complimentary player for superstars. Edmonton has those and Calgary does not. We need more star players and I think getting Hall on a 5 year 6M per deal is worth it
