Go to sleep, are you gonna cry for the rest of the weekend? We get it, you think this team sucks , isn’t clutch and we don’t have a no.1 C, next

Expected goals through the first 60 minutes were
2.63 Colorado
1.73 Calgary
They were the better team but not to the extent that you're making it sound. They had a lot of zone time but we kept them mostly to the perimeter.
By the end of overtime, they were
2.68 Colorado
2.29 Calgary
As their balls-to-the-walls play was starting to wear down. But one breakdown ended up being the game, 3-2. Them's the breaks.

The worst part about MacKinnon is how white he is. Why are you that white man? You're almost blue. You have the same color as boiled squid. You look like Silas the monk from The Da Vinci Code.
It's creepy.

I am the last guy to do these drive by posts, but wow, what a terrible post.
The team is far from perfect. Get that thorough your heads guys.

nobody is even arguing it...doesn't mean Mony isn't a #1 center
There are like 5 centers like that in the NHL and 31 teams...they sucked and won a lottery, good for them.
Flames have been a far better TEAM over the year, one game doesn't change that. If hockey was about one player the Oilers would be winning the cup.
Mackinnon is 1-5 against the Flames this season

Mike Smith played amazing; it almost feels like a waste of such a good performance. Full credit to Colorado though, who I feel did dominate despite what some here are saying.
I guess Backlund is tasked with shutting down Mackinnon? Backs had nearly 24 minutes of icetime tonight. Very tough assignment.

Got up 4:30 to watch the game. Not worth it.
However, if we can take the Avs to OT by playing like ####, I’m not worried.
Smith is looking great and that was the main worry going in to the play offs. This is the second best team in the league, they haven’t forgotten how to play hockey.
Peters will have them ready for next game. As previously mentioned, we owned the season series with the Avs and we’ve always played them well.

Hopefully. Funny how it goes, but seriously, Engelland or Brodie RIGHT NOW?
TJ skates great, but is soft . I brought this up here years ago only to be attacked by the CP gang. Lidstrom this, Niedermayer that. LOL. Brodie was good enough to skate his troubles away etc.
Not so sure about that. He is not intense enough, can upgrade there.

For as bad as the team played for most of the game, the Flames were really unlucky not to win it.
After Colorado got the lucky bounce to tie it, that Tkachuk chance in tight could have easily gone in if we got a bit of luck ourselves. Then on the powerplay in OT it looked like Gio hit Tkachuk with at least 2 shots that were going in had Chucky managed to dodge them. Plus the Gaudreau/Monahan chance in OT, followed by Frolik in tight prior to the winner.
Too bad, but hopefully the team responds with a dominant effort on Monday.

You don't seem too interested in reading other people's posts in good faith but if you re-read mine, I said MacKinnon *is* better than Monahan. No one denies that.
But I then provided a link which showed that they are fairly close in points and Monahan actually has more goals over his career.
So whatever other imaginary metric people may use to show MacKinnon is better - "generating chances", "being explosive", "needing to be shut-down", "Tim Horton's Commercials starred in", my point is that the things that can actually be measured on paper - goals and assists - show they're closer than some in this thread are giving Monahan credit for.
Monahan's not as flashy or dominant as MacKinnon but he gets it done quietly and effectively - at least to this point in his career.
(As someone else says, MacKinnon is finding his stride after a couple rough early years but that is actually another credit to Monahan in my view to have not struggled early on like MacKinnon did.)

There were long periods this year when Brodie was really good. But this was An awful game for him no doubt about it.

Just a few positives from tonight to act as a counterbalance to some of the Debbie Downers in here:
Despite being outplayed for long stretches tonight and putting in maybe a 60% effort for most of the game, we still fired 37 shots on net, generated more than a few grade A chances, and were one shot away from winning it in OT.
We were 65% in the faceoff dot for the 2nd game in a row.
The PP scored again for the 2nd game in a row and actually looked dangerous at times, especially the one in OT, which is a good sign that they're finally figuring it out.
PK was a perfect 4/4. (8/8 for the series so far)
29 blocked shots.
Smith was outstanding once again, which bodes well going forward.
Hamonic and Bennett are playoff warriors of the highest caliber.
The top line finally got on the scoresheet.
...ok, now back to your regularly scheduled doom and gloom.

For a "terrible top line center", Sean Monahan sure seems to know how to score goals.
