A package was suggested, and then it was stated to switch out Brodie with Bouma. That isn't a difficult read. At least I wouldn't think so.

Wait, a guy who has hit 79, 71 and 69 points in the last 3 seasons is now a 50 point player?

In this instance I think you are.
He's been a 50 point player in every season he's been in the league, which at the age of 24, has been 5 seasons prior to this one. His 53 points last year would've put him 4th on the team in points. If he reproduced the same thing this season he'd be in the same spot but the cheapest of the top 4, I think his cap hit is pretty good actually, one of the more attractive things about him, as he's signed through the next 4 years.
The only thing not to like about Landeskog is the cost to acquire him.

Sorry to disagree, but I have watched Landeskog in person too many times in the Can to say he is going to be great in Calgary. He is wildly inconsistent and has been one of many players that doesn't seem to care many nights. In his international play he has been better, but so are most players or they are not selected for the top countries including Sweden.
I don't think this is a matter of over paying or not, just long term (contract term) satisfaction with the player and I don't see this in Landeskog.
My nickels worth...

calgaryblood is probably right because most prospect don't make it and that's the easiest thing to say.. but don't think Andersson and Kylington are long shots. They're legit 2nd round picks who have been playing well in the AHL. Kylington has looked good as an 18 and 19 year old in that league, that's not easy.
No, they're not sure things.. but they're legitimate prospects with legitimate shots.
Small quibble.

Unequivocally false.

It's a tough read with this season as it pertains to any Avs player. They're all playing like garbage and I can't fault any one of them for looking lost out there with how bad that team is.

Oh ya I wasn't inferring that you would, was just making fun of how ridiculous that trade is. Avs are out to lunch if they think that's the value Landy holds.

Yea with the way Andersson is playing in the AHL this year I think he's got a very good shot at the very least becoming a solid pro. He's a very attractive looking prospect.

They're still long shot and I don't think Kylington will make it to be honest. I've watched him play a lot and I don't like his game. He takes way too many risks and doesn't seem to be learning at all.
Anderssen I think is the much better player and has a better chance than Kylington.
I still don't think the Avs would be interested in them, especially not for Landeskog. Maybe as a throw in with a much better player than Bouma.

I think its more likely than not that at least one of those two defensemen makes it to the NHL in some capacity. The organization seems quite high on both of them and they're two bright spots in the AHL. Theyre only 20 years old and Kylington is very undersized; its concievable they're both on the roster within 2-3 seasons.
Anderson has put up 0.6 ppg and is +15 or something in the AHL as a 20 y/o. Thats quite impressive...

That's a bit of a bold statement saying a 20 and 19 year old Dman who are in the AHL will never play in the NHL. Both were drafted in the upper rounds and have progressed nicely. Andersson is a plus 14 with 20 points in his first pro year in North America on a pretty bad team. I think you are seriously under rating both of them.

I don't know what you watched but he had excellent games at the WJ's. Was Sweden's best player in their last game vs Russia and made many nice plays. Do you watch Stockton regularly? Because if not I don't think you can make the claim that you've seen him a lot.

Huska (I believe) was on The Fan today talking about Andersson and Kylington.
He said Andersson was arguably their best D-Man in Stockton, has progressed very well, is reliable, and importantly very motivated and doing all the right things on and off the ice now to become an NHL pro.
He said Kylington has struggled with consistency, particularly on decisions with the puck in the defensive zone. Needs more work.
Reading between the lines he seemed to indicate Andersson was a lot closer to becoming an NHLer. Is it possible he makes the jump next year? Maybe.
