Young players have lots to learn about playing the game in every siruation. That he wants to be able to use Gaudreau's skill against other top lines to exploit their weaknesses. That he is going to ask him to be a better, complete player.

outside of all the things about possession, breakouts, and moving as a 5 man unit, i was most excited to hear this. it felt like often hartley left players who needed guidance and development on an island.
i love monahan, but i don't see how his game grew from his rookie year, apart from more strength and confidence. the same applies for dougie from the start of the last season. i think there is a lot of room for our players to grow as a team and hartley wasn't able to help them do so. throwing bennett on a line with bollig was just one instance of this.

So that's #1 on Trelivings list taken care of. All in all I feel positive about this hiring of Gulutzan. Gave a good first impression and said a lot of the right things.

Can't post pics but I'd say Gulutzan looks a bit like Robert Carlyle (Begbie in Trainspotting without the moustache though)

Remember when Brad was hired and we were all like 'who? The guy from dragon's den? What about Futa? I wanted Benning!'
Trust the process

Burke is neither the GM nor the coach. Virtually every thing that he says in public about the players and on-ice play of the team needs to either be weighed very judiciously or ignored altogether.
If Bollig is not good enough to play, the coach will not play him.
If Bollig is not good enough to be on the team, the GM will move him.
I really think it is all as simple as that.

Gulutzan looks like an older, shorter, more ginger Colborne.

Like his connections to Calgary. Didn't know his wife is from here.
Like his comments on not dumping the puck and continuing to push our D into the play.
Like that he didn't mention size (from what I can tell).
Like that he wants to establish open relationships with the players, communicate, explain the why and the how.
Like that we didn't hire a re-tread veteran coach.
Lots of likes tbh. He obviously doesn't have tons of experience at the NHL level or the pedigree of an established coach, but hopefully this will be his coming out party as it has been for Treliving. Interested to see his actual system designs, especially in the D zone. This is possibly the most important decision of Treliving's career so far. Time will tell, overall feeling positive about this.

All I needed to hear was the part about playing connected and as 5-man units.
Hated our breakout and team defensive structure last year.
