If that 2nd is ours anyway and it can only be improved upon, I'm very happy with that as it is. If the Stars get all the way and it turns into a 1st, I'll be over the moon.
Excellent return has the prospect of turning into an unbelievable return.
The team just turned an asset they acquired for almost nothing, and paid relatively little salary for over the years, and who is not a prospect to be re-signed, into a 24 year old replacement, a decent prospect, and a 2nd round (and maybe first round) pick.
I can't see how anyone is unhappy with the return.
First two rounds are within the division. If Dallas beats St. Louis in the first round, they likely get Chicago in the 2nd (or the wildcard team if Chicago lose).
Not necessarily. The two wildcard spots have a lot to say about that. The 1st seed plays the worst WC team. The 2nd best division winner plays the top WC team.
Awesome trade. Wasn't sure about the condition or not, wrongly assumed it was "Maybe a 2nd". Now that it's a guaranteed second round pick, with potential to move to a 1st, that's fantastic value.
Don't know much about Pollack, Jokipakka doesn't have a tonne of upside but he's a typical Finnish defender, skates wells, moves well, not overly physical but not a wuss. And I generally like the Finnish blueliner.
Good value by Treliving, patience and some creativity paid off.
Good on the Stars for protecting themselves a little, acquiring a guy that's been injured the past couple weeks.
Well we're not going to acquire potential top 2 d-men in every trade. If Jokipakka can top out as a good, reliable #4 d-man with size then it's a success.

Nope. Division leaders play wild card teams and then the winner of the 2nd/3rd place team in their same division.
