Unless you're strictly into metal or punk, it's hard to imagine finding nothing in the Beatles catalogue that suits your taste. There was an issue of Rolling Stone years ago where 30 of the biggest music acts in the world talked about their influences. Virtually every one of the bands and performers cited the Beatles as a major musical influence. And these were acts that ran the gamut of popular music.
Maybe a lot of people have only heard the same 20 or so songs that get overplayed on the radio today?

Adds value, easier to re-sell.
Same reason people want the navigation system when nobody actually uses them.

I scrape the icing off. Crave cupcakes are the worst for over-icing.

We only use ours when we're on a road trip outside the city. So maybe two or three times a year. And since we've been consistent about it, the kids never even ask otherwise.

So you spend $2K upfront just so you can sell the car for an extra couple hundred bucks at the end?
The problem with a lot of these systems (especially nav) is that most of them are relatively old tech as soon as you buy them, and often functionally obsolete by the time you sell them (if you're keeping it for 5+ years). Personally, the last thing I want in my car is old tech that I dont use but may have to replace.

I agree. The Beatles are like Christianity. Omnipresent, impossible to escape, exclusively responsible for some of the best things we enjoy today.

I hate the frikin Beatles. Yes they had good melodies and harmonies but I despise hippies or anything related to the love is all you need, hold my hand, peace sign crap. I can appreciate their talent objectively but enjoyment wise I'd rather listen to 80s new wave over the Beatles.
There are a million other bands out there, the Beatles were only one of them.

Going to Flames games. I'd rather watch at home. No crowds, drunks spilling beer, freezing your butt, uncomfortable seats, traffic getting in and out of the grounds. I used to enjoy going, but now days I turn tickets away.
Scotch and sushi...just don't see what's so good about them.

Yes but, the general idea is that you wouldn't have any of the music you like if it wasn't for them. I'm not a huge Beatles fan by any means, but it's their influence on music thereafter (basically all of it) that gives them the distinction they have.
But at the same time, rock and roll (including the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Elvis, etc..), R&B (including modern rap), and pretty much any modern music can be traced back to the Delta Blues (Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Robert Johnson), and I think any musician outside of Kanye would agree, as he created music, a virgin birth from his penis (direct quote from his future memoir).
Blues is literally in everything from Kanye to Metallica to Pet Shop Boys.

Does anyone under 50 or anyone not forced to listen to an oldies radio station at work listen to the Beatles?
I dont mind the Beatles. But I dont have any albums, havent downloaded their any if their music, and havent played a streaming music channel that has had a Beatles song. About the only time I listen to a Beatles song is if its on the radio in the backrgound where Im out somewhere or if I turn on the radio on a road trip trying to listen to some local content (small town stations seem to live the Beatles).

So it is ironic then that none of the Beatles members were/are Christian?

Great thread idea Silver!
Star Wars movie franchise. I have tried, and tried and tried and it will never be entertaining to me.
Brunch. Everything about it. There is usually a line up. People are discussing their hangovers, or bringing light to it when they order a caesar or a mimosa followed by an unfunny joke about it never being too early to drink etc.

*Raises hand*
A lot of the people from my generation listen to older music, mostly because the popular music in the early 2000's (techno dance music, terrible gangsta rap) was absolutely awful, so we all went back and listened to our parents' music (Zeppelin, Stones, Beatles, Clapton, etc..)
I really think that the recent resurgence of raw rock, folk and instrument-based music in general, is because of that shift.

My wife finally got me around to listening to Zeppelin. No way is Zeppelin over-rated. In fact, they could possibly even be under-rated.

All the time. Probably because my Dad listened to them all the time, so I got hooked.
I hope my kid likes to listen to the music I grew up with/introduce him to as well when he's in his 30s.

I was 11 when John Lennon was killed, and my sister got my dad to buy the two Beatles compilation albums 1962-1966 and 1967-1970. I haven't stopped listening to the Beatles since.

Then ignore everything they recorded after '66. You still have a wealth of music to choose from. A Hard Day's Night, Beatles for Sale, and Beatles '65 are chock full of R&B, driving rock, and wailing Motown tunes.
Money, You Can't Do That, Any Time at All, No Reply, Baby's in Black, Every Little Thing, She's a Woman, The Night Before, I Feel Fine... all classics. And not a hippy or peace sign to be found.
