One more comment I forgot to mention in my last post: I wouldn't be worried about Johnny Hockey or Baertschi. Can't see them going anywhere. I think the Hartley questions are completely validated, but that will really depend on who takes over.

The presser hasn't started, and Jermaine Franklin is already being awkward.

Forgive me if this has already been said, but its kinda funny considering the timing. Burke has a trade freeze in place for players and their families over the holidays, and then fires two people?

Nieuwendyk was terrible in Dallas.

Hartley'd be best to start packing. He is the lamest of lame ducks now. New GM will want his guy in as coach. Hartley is gone after the season at the latest.

To suggest that Burke wasn't the main architect of building the Canucks into a contender is pretty fanciful.

Maybe the Sabres GM search has an impact? Perhaps they offered Burke the position and he went to the FLames and said, let me be the GM here or I walk.

while Feaster hasn't been amazing, I thought his draft and recent trades were solid...Kris Russell, Galiardi, Smid...all solid trades
I'm very interested to hear how they spin this.
As for Weisbrod, I don't get it, I thought he was doing fine.

The ROR situation was definately a mistake. But who here had heard of that rule before it happened? Giving an offer sheet to an RFA hold-out is a rare situation as it is, having an obscure waiver rule bite you could happen to a lot of GMs in the NHL right now.
Not saying Feaster should've done it, but I can see how the mistake could have been made. I suppose the Nabokov situation should've been some clue, but it was a lockout...a ton of players were coming back from Europeean leagues.

Probably because there are only 30 GM's jobs out there and Burke isn't close to as bad as you make him out to be.

Burke as GM and Ruff as coach, maybe? IDK

You are going to wear a Carolina jersey because Darren Dreger speculated that Niuewendyk might be a good fit for the Flames as GM?
That is much more than just overreacting.

I wonder if Feaster recommended they keep Cammy, Stajan, and Stempniak? Burke knows this team needs to be be built from the ground up

Although I agree with you about feeling bad for the person, I doubt the family is going to suffer too much, it's not like they had small salaries.
