Transit is really having a bad day. Won't be fun leaving the dome if you want to take transit.

Must be GMO's. No wonder people want them banned.
That train had to have taken a heck of a hop to jump off the track and onto the platform. The platform is what, a good 2 feet away from the track most times?

C-Trains should never try to rail slide. Do we need to rivet strips of metal on those platforms?

When it rains, it pours. At least this happened after Rush Hour.
City Hall Station is jinxed.

It was not a fun day to be a transit operator...
If I were to venture a guess on how the trail derailed, I would guess there was some kind of error with the switches on the approach to City Hall station. But that is just a guess.

An actual informative and insightful comment on a news comments section!

<LI class=vf-rank>Rank 348What I surmise, given 60 years around track work is that the train (line 202) advanced across 7th Avenue from 3 St SE, while the turnout (switch) was still set for the train which had just come from the south (Route 201).
In other words, the turnout wasn't set for the 202 to proceed through.
So, the train jumped the turnout and the leading right front wheel, while striking the turnout, made the right front of the train side rise and caused the train to lurch left a bit, causing the train to strike and mount the platform.
The investigation will determine if it was operator error (he departed before the CTrain signal was green and the turnout fully set, even though he had a green traffic light) or a malfunction of the switch machine, which didn't activate the turnout properly to line up the points, so that the train could proceed straight ahead as it's designed to do.
Alternately, The CTrain signal turned green and so did the traffic light but the relay failed to activate the switch machine, thereby not fully closing the points to allow safe passage through the turnout, thereby leaving the track in the position that they had been when the last 201 westbound went through. Or the CTrain signal gave a false signal. It could even be at the control centre.
The train will be fixed with a bit of fiberglass and perhaps some wheels replaced. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries.
The delay might be in replacing the turnout. A lot of it will be probably be done overnight (Thursday/Friday) and ideally the line will be opened.
Otherwise, trains may be running on the southbound track only downtown and that is a lot of inconvenience for everyone.
The other two accidents happened through inattention.
Trying to beat the train.
Not the first time at either location.

I'm sorry (not really) but if he thought he could beat one train and didn't see TWO trains coming, he kinda deserved it. DARWINISM!
in other news, he's still alive.

All these car/truck vs train idiots should have their names and photos posted in the newspapers. There is no excuse.
The pedestrians who get hit are also idiots but often end up disfigured or dead so it would be cruel to shame them like the car/truck drivers.
