My high school girlfriend lived in Bonavista and I have fond memories of fingering her along those nice beaches (fingering was a big deal at the time for some reason and I shudder at how lame I must have been).
I just wouldn't like the drive from downtown to and from their. I have to do that drive in the spring for my kids spring hockey and I just hate other Calgary drivers too much to do that every day.

Well, yeah, in retrospect I'd have worded it differently.

Funny that you say that given that each time you've attempted to adjust your position all you've done is double down on a lake (and not just any lake, but your lake) being objectively better. That's the part people are taking issue with.
Your lake looks nice, I'd probably enjoy a BBQ in a lakeside yard, but I'd never want to live there. It offers nothing that appeals to me on a day to day basis, and that opinion is shared by numerous people. You probably wouldn't like living in my apartment, or my neighborhood, and that opinion is also shared by numerous people. We all value different things, and it is possible to sit here and discuss what those things are and why certain places meet those needs without resorting to declarations that certain things are inherently valuable when they clearly are not, or that certain personal opinions on what is valued carry more authority than others.

I don't really know about that. According to this post by troutman...

TESTING THE WATERS
Fecal coliform counts from samples collected by lake managers between July 19 and July 23, and submitted to the Calgary Health Region. The figures represent the number of colony-forming units per 100 millilitres of water. Lakes are allowed to have counts of 200 colony-forming units per 100 millilitres. Two back-to-back tests of 400 prompt closure.
Auburn Bay less than 10
Lake Sundance less than 10
Lake Bonaventure less than 10
McKenzie Lake 10
Coral Springs less than 10
Lake Midnapore less than 10
Arbour Lake less than 10
Lake Bonavista 20
Lake Chaparral 40

So is it an objective or subjective benefit that Lake Bonavista is plagued by attack hawks and (temporarily) no mail delivery?

The Lake Bonavista Lake dropped to 20 on the test because of the recent vandal attack and their use of the lake as a potty. It will bounce back.

Was it bums using the LRT to get down there and walking over?
I bet it was. Don't those bums know they belong in the inner-city?

Pfft. How many other communities have a mail pick-up where you can also see the lake? Being completely objective and impartial, I think this is a major plus to Bonavista as the greatest community the world has seen!

Weird that the neighbourhoods with the most desirable traits are the most expensive.
I wonder why that is....
