Given the time frame before Burris got some bonuses, and the very small market (HAM or maybe EDM (who knows what the juve ass grabber is doing at that position) for his services, its ok.
Calgary had to take some contract back, and its safe to say the highest one that is the most redundant on the Ticats is Glenn's. No problem with him as a backup, and if Tate struggles, its a QB that lead HAM over MTL in the playoffs 2 months ago, so its no Bishop going in there.
Farewell Hank.

There's a lot more to running a pro team (football or otherwise) then most of us understand.
For the record, I would have loved to see a good DLman to come back, but obviously that wasn't possible. Hopefully we can pick up a FA.

I agree, and honestly i'm a little suprised they were able to get anything for Burris given what he is due salary wise and that fact that really the STamps had no choice but to cut him prior to paying him. i think you have to give Huff credit just got gettin anything back for Burris let along a good asset like Dewit. Dewitt is obviously not a need for Hamilton with Hage in the fold so for them it's fine to include him and I can't beleive they would give a dline of any valuable in a deal like this. Center is a huge need imo for the Stamps.
Improvement on the Dline can easily come through FA and import signings, non import starters are harder to find IMO so if they have someone who can start at center (looks like they do) and play fairly well they are set on the offensive line once again. I think getting Harrison back healthy would be key and really solidify the line. Yes the line sucked at points last year, but when Harrison went back in and Bryant was able to kick out to RT they were much, much better.
If you are going to roll with Tate IMO you need a CFL veteran to back him up, you can't go get some US guy who has never played the game. You need someone who knows the drill and can play when needed but also help out your young player. Is there potential for Glenn to have attitude issues, sure, but at this point he should realize that it's his only feasible option and I would still suggest it beats the alternative with how upset Hank was.

Huff said that he needed a veteran to backup Tate. Burris said he didn't want to be a backup. Trading Burris with Hamilton or Toronto were probably the only two teams in the league that would follow through with the trade.
I'm suprised that so many are suprised with this. It makes sense to me. Yeah, Glenn is Glenn...but he's got some experience, will help Tate and mentor him a bit. Glenn obviously understands what he is coming into this season, and there will be no controversy, and if Tate happens to go down with an injury or play horribly, there will be someone who can actually play football behind him.
I think this is the best we could have hoped for in this situation. We got something in return at least, and have a vertan in the back up position.

Love the trade. Frank is way over the hill and didn't wana backup a younger better QB in Tate. Glenn won't be talking much since Tate will be lighting it up so no reason for him to open his trap.
Dewit looks servicable, played center last year when Hage got hurt. OL will likely look different this year as well.
There's lots of money being saved from Reynold, Burris...one of Rambo and Bryant will also be gone, I also think Dales will be let go as well...there are some good defensive players that will potentially be UFAs, time to open up the vault for them Huff.
Exciting time to be a Stamps fan!

Glenn does not play for free I hope you know. Also Tate just signed a extension, I am sure he is making starting QB money as well.

Based on what?
He has been a mediocre to bad QB his whole career, didn't exactly seem overly happy when Porter came in last year and is getting older. What exactly about Glenn makes him a fantastic Back-up?
As for saving money on moving Burris, did Burris have a guaranteed contract? If the Stamps wanted to cut the salary couldn't they just have cut him?
I can see getting a back-up NI lineman as a positive but Glenn (or a QB like him) and cutting salary are two things that easily could have happened without the deal.

Fair enough, moon, but what prevents the Stampeders from cutting Glenn?
At least with this trade, Calgary gets Burris out of the West, gets a decent NI center and a conditional pick, and improves their SMS situation. Whether or not Glenn is an asset is almost beside the point (I think he is, personally), since his contract is non-guaranteed - just as Burris' was. The only difference is that Glenn is younger and doesn't have a large bonus coming due in a month (that I'm aware of).

Nothing.
But if the issue was that Burris makes too much and they wanted cap space then unlike the NHL they don't have to trade him they cut him.
The point is they didn't need to trade Burris to improve their cap space. So that really isn't a positive in the deal because they easily could have done it with the trade or not.

Kevin Glenn is not good, he has been a really bad QB. I hope we never see him in action as a Stampeder.

I agree, between Tate's extension and Glenn i would suspect the Stamps are paying Qbs virtually the same they ddi last year. Huff has spoken recently that he does not expect to save money at the QB position this season.
This trade was about getting something for an asset they didn't require, and also doing something right for Burris who wanted it out, it was not about cap savings. Releasing Reynolds and maybe moving out Rambo or Bryant could save money off their cap, but I don't beleive the cap is a problem for the Stamps.

The other aspect to trading Burris is that in a way the Stamps sent Burris somewhere they could control. They could decide where to send him rather than cutting him loose and allowing him to sign anywhere else. I don't know for sure but I would guess that if the Stamps had just cut him, the Esks would have made an offer. That would have been the worst outcome for the Stamps imo considering they play Edmonton 3 or 4 times every year. Not to mention, right now, the Esks have the worst QB depth in the league, in fact, they are not even close to anyone else.

Nik apparently went on QR 77 at around 6:40, anyone catch it? Busby tweeted that he didn't sound nearly upset on the radio as he did on twitter.
