But Fellas who don't want to trade Monahan because common sense dictates that, Mangiapane and Johnny hockey are special players! We can't just trade them or we aren't special anymore.
Honestly, its crazy to think the Flames will Richards/Carter the top line.
Its crazy to me that they'd even entertain trading Monny.

Well if this is true , I’m going to temper my expectations on the return. Seen what flat cap did to ufa class. Think it will effect the remaining trade market also.

Tough to win in the playoffs when your most skilled player chooses to play almost exclusively on the perimeter.

And with all that playing between the the dots, Sean had 1 more playoff goal than Derek Forbort.

Isn't Steinberg usually pretty plugged in to be saying stuff like this?

But what does this mean?
It's a trade. Are both teams going to get less return? How does that work exactly?

Voracek, Couturier, Cousins, Schenn (turned into Frost and Farebee), Simmonds and Shore.
Yeah, we can only pray that Treliving is able to Richards/Carter that top line.

To make keeping Monahan worthwhile, the Flames need to somehow acquire a center better than him so he can shift to #2 C, because the Flames aren't winning anything with him as their #1C.
In trading Monahan, the Flames need to acquire a young center who's upside is that of a top #1C (Cozens) and who can get to that level in relatively short order.
Either way, it's hard to expect the Flames to win anything without a better center than who we currently have.
That's not to say that Monahan isn't a 1C. I mean, depends how you look at it. Technically there might be 31 1C's in the NHL, but only a third (maybe half) of those players are at the level where your team can win with them leading the way. I don't necessarily see Monahan as part of that group.

Except he doesn't anymore because he's become highly predictable.

Everyone else in the hockey world said Markstrom was going to the Oilers. When Steinberg put it on Twitter the night before that Calgary was the front runner Kypreos called him out saying Markstrom would be joining the Oilers to play on Connors team
