Agreed.. not the greatest skater - likely a winger in the pros.

Good thing finishing dead last doesn't mean you're even remotely guaranteed winning the lottery anymore. It is imperative they finish bottom 5 and don't go on some kind of Flamesy run to end the year though.

It is starting to seem like Kadri might be the more likely player to move at the deadline, where for most of the season I would have said it was Coleman. There just seems like there are more middle 6 wingers available and probably at a cheaper price than what Calgary is asking for Coleman and less cap hit.
On the other hand the middle 6 center market is pretty thin, Trocheck only wants to play in the East so that eliminates half the league. Ryan O'Reilly may or may not be available. Robert Thomas is going to be cost prohibitive for most of the league, same with Elias Pettersson. That leaves Kadri especially for teams in the West.

He's getting loads of attention. Can Edmonton get rid of him, what will they have to pay, ect
And then what will Edmonton do with the cap space

More like a guy who was a top six scoring forward 6 years ago.

I have faith that if the flames are even close to the bottom uncle Gary will finally come in our favor. We played the game, bucked up public funds, are in the running to host a world cup, and McKenna is a jammy kid. I think we will be rewarded. So, let Vancouver suck more than us!

Actual game schedule means a lot right now too as these teams don't want to play shorthanded in any games.
Avs had back to back Monday and Tuesday but are off Wednesday and Thursday before a big game against Dallas on Friday. My guess is they'd want to make their moves on Wednesday to avoid playing short handed at all.
Dallas is also off Wednesday and Thursday but play Friday. (As an aside how has the NHL not figured out to not have games on trade deadline day)
Minnesota is off Wednesday and Thursday.
Feels like business is going to pick up for the central teams on Wednesday with all of them having Wednesday and Thursday off and it's going to be a bit of an arms race in that division.
The Eastern teams that are looking to buy have more of a mix of schedule with nobody having a 2 day break here, think those teams might wait until Thursday / Friday.

Bit surprising to see Whitecloud in the 11 spot on that TSN trade board. I like what he brings for the Flames. That said, for a rebuilding team he's the perfect player to have.
Kadri and Coleman have more impetus to move now. Both good players, but with their age/contracts/trade clauses/doing right by the player, I'd imagine Conroy can't play hardball as much as some on this forum would like.
With Whitecloud, he can set his price high and keep it. With a reasonable 2.75 million cap hit for the next 2.5 years, the Flames have 2 offseasons and 3 trade deadlines where he'd have trade value. And frankly, having a good defenceman like Whitecloud to shelter the young D core over the next few years has a lot of value as well.

I suspect the fact that RHD is a high need area, and the Flames are bottom 5, leads to Whitecloud being on the list.

Hard not to feel a little spoiled these last few trade deadlines. Lots to look forward to the next few days.

The networks are probably getting excited at the prospect of actually getting more trades on deadline day instead of having to talk about trades that already happened.

#1 priority for Oilers is to find a new home Mangiapane which will cost the Oilers
They have to move him to get to what's next and that is finding a top 9 forward - ideally a 3rd line center
one name that is a fit for the Oilers is Nic Roy but lots of other names on their list
they want physicality and ruggedness
Myers continues to be patient to see if another team surfaces
Detroit's offer is still on the table and Myers could end up there in the end
teams continue to check in on Pettersen
thinks it is a stretch that he moves before the deadline
Carolina and LA have looked at him
doesn't see a world in which retaining on Pettersen makes sense for the Canucks
as of last night price is astronomical for Thomas
#1 26 year old center doesn't come available often
not convinced price will lower by the deadline
one team executive said this is about the Blues getting a full sense of the market for Thomas and circling back in the offseason
another team executive says Thomas could move before deadlne so we shall see

I do think you can build up Whitecloud's value here as well. He's playing a ton of minutes here that he wasn't always getting in Vegas. Lot more value in the guy if team's see him as a top 4 guy vs bottom pair especially at his salary.

I don't think there's any way Coleman doesn't move before Friday, unless things REALLY fall apart, given he left his family behind in Dallas. That speaks volumes IMO.
From what our Insiders were saying previously, sounds like cap accrual really matters to the teams that want Coleman, in which case every game that goes by matters quite a bit. So I think the chances of him staying are probably close to zero but it's possible he might not move until the deadline or day before.

Both Derek Ryan and Mangiapane have both said that anyone outside of the four top forwards don't have a role on that team. Everyone is basically a life support system for a mall.
Edmonton must have the worst team culture in the league.
