He's already built the cult, now he just needs a compound in Texas...
He should just buy Canmore and pave it.

I think Elon should read up on what has happened in the past when you try and start a libertarian utopia. Lessons are to be learned.

The Town That Went Feral
When a group of libertarians set about scrapping their local government, chaos descended. And then the bears moved in.

Also, along the Colorado River? The same river that is in grave danger of existence and will have significant impact on millions of Americans for water, electricity, and food?

WSJ: The Colorado River is in Crisis and It's Getting Worse Every Day

Le Monde: Drought in the Colorado River nears 'point of no return,' forcing the US Government to ration water

CBC: 'Dead pool', drought and a drying Colorado River

Are people blind to reality? Or willfully ignorant?

Not the same Colorado River as the articles you mentioned, but yes it is in a similar position to the other (larger and more famous) Colorado River when it comes to water rights.

Would they be even able to get any water rights? I would think any new players requesting new rights would be #### out of luck. Then again, it is the U.S. so with $, anything is possible.

It's actually a different Colorado river. Don't ask me why they have the same name for two major rivers.

I read the column in your link and loved it. As luck would have it, I was able to request the book from the library. can't wait!

I wonder how much he can afford to spend on getting water rights and building an entire city. Paying the debt on Twitter seems to be taking a fair bit of cash and he can't keep selling Tesla stock forever.

He still has a net worth in the 10s of billions, doesn’t he?

Unfortunately he can probably remain solvent nearly as long as he can remain stupid.

Surely he'll have the foresight to include a hammock district in his plans?

But to access it he needs to sell stock, which has major side effects.

Actually him going broke is actually a lot easier than you'd think, it pretty much looks like what he's doing now, load up with debt then devalue the shares the debt is loaned against

I read interest payments on what he owes when he bought twitter is 1.2 billion per year.
So I think next month he has to pay another 300 million.
I doubt twitter is making enough money to cover the interest debt, let alone operational costs.

unless the Saudi's bail him out, I wonder if he'll soon sell more stock.

Yeah nah, this guy is just another Elon sycophant trying to spin this as a genius move. A general rule of thumb is any YT personality selling supplements is full of ####.

Anyone who actually uses Twitter on the regular knows the site is performing like absolute garbage and chock full of stuff real advertisers run away from.

It's a sinking ship.
