Man, you guys are so butthurt. Blaming jg for becoming a free agent. Not giving enough notice. We knew for six f-ing years when he was going to be a free agent. You're really going to drag your ass all over a 30 year old guy that just decided to do best for him because he didn't give us something that he never owed in the first place? Lol. Not enough notice?

Such a bunch of crying wieners around here. It's not like the flames overpaid for jg's 6-year contract. How does anyone think he owes this city anything? Straight up pathetic to read all of this bitching and moaning over a grown man making life decisions for himself and his family.

Frothy retort. Johnny owes us nothing and we in turn owe him nothing. It is curious to see an elite athlete in his prime turn down winning and money. He had a good setup here and I don't think it's out of line to speculate that he simply made a bad decision. Based on what he's said in the wake of it, he doesn't seem like a guy with much clarity.

So it's not about who's owed. No one is. But he's certainly not owed any favor from flames fans, and that's what you're reading here.

I don’t see the big difference between what they did TBQH.

Gaudreau didn’t sign a long term deal when he had one year of left team control. Gave the Flames a list of 5 teams to whom he would accept a trade. And told them he wouldn’t negotiate during the season. It was the club who decided to roll the dice here.

That doesn’t change that he didn’t seem to handle it very well at the very end but in the big picture that was meaningless.

But a year ago, he didn’t do much different than Tkachuk.

Do you think the Flames told Brodie a year before he left that they didn’t plan on bringing him back unless their other options fell through?

Johnny sounded like a person trying to convince himself of the decision after the fact.

Guy too. Was hard not to crack up when he said 7 hour drive like it was a palatable thing.

1.5 hour flight I'll give them though.

He will find Columbus boring quickly. No pressure but no excitement. The atmosphere around the Boston College eagles will be better than what he's stepping into.

Laine won't commit over 200 feet like Sutter taught you to. Seasons will routinely end in mid-April.

The competitive teams out East will run their show most nights and at the end of the night most of the group won't really care.

The team won't spend every dollar it can to have a shot. They'll be more conservative. Just like when they shed Bjorkstrand's salary for peanuts, a player that would've helped them.

If that floats his boat for the second half of his career, then all the power to him. Hopefully the family life thrives because of the sacrifices made on the hockey side.

But make no mistake.. there were sacrifices.

As a fan of the team since 95...this is the way...and I still don't consider it child abuse to convince my kids to give their heart to the team.

Cheering for the Panthers slow demise to rock bottom over the next 3-4 years is one of my favorite parts of this deal.

Well you haven't been the one going off the deep end like some of the other posters, so I'm not sure why you're addressing this. So many posters here are actuing like JG committed some kind of transgression that is forboden in sports.

The guy went free agent and lots of people here and reddit and all the places are tripping about it as though he should have decreed his intentions last summer. Pretty sure he did - by not signing. Stop trashing the guy for not doing what you hoped for?

If they suck now how can they be strong again by 2024? They don't have their first in the next 3 draft, are they that strong in their farm that they have abundance talented prospects ready to step in? Honest question, I don't know anything about them.

Well I don't see how they can improve themselves in the short to moderate term aside from the few prospects coming up suddenly blossoming.

I just hope people don't boo Johnny when he comes back. Will really make Flames fans look bush league imo.

Call it that if you want. I read most of the interesting threads here, but rarely reply. I am indeed riled up about this topic, as evident by tonight's outburst and the one from the other night.

I think it's embarrassing how badly some people are talking about JG after how much of a community member he was, and the contract he took, and played for the Flames. It's just embarrassing, and I'm a bit bitchy about it.

Also, chiropracters are not doctors.

Zito sounded way more sure of this trade than he probably should be.

I'd be wary of this guy if I was a Cats fan. No one should be that enamored with Tkachuk that they would extract a couple vital organs in exchange for some mean biceps.

Sounded like a guy drunk on his long time man crush still experiencing some heat stroke from the beach.

I'm not sure what "this" is. But, I'm addressing your post particularly, not the content of it but the way it's worded. There is no needs to go off on Jiri or anyone the way you did. You don't have to agree with what he said, but there is no need to go off like you did. OBTW, I don't agree with what you said but I did not go off like you did.

I'm a professor you dip####. I've been teaching science at an undergraduate and graduate level for 7 years now. You may think I'm a fake doctor, but plenty of highly educated professionals have decided that I pass the smell test. I'm not your average chiropractor.

#### you.

Well, the thing is that I don't like Jiri. I think he's holier than thou. He was a terrible mod, I'm glad he stepped down because I think he was getting way too overheated about little things, and now I have a 10 year opinion of him. Excuse me for snapping at someone I don't like. Isn't that ok on a message board? Do I have to like everyone? Am I not allowed to read 10 years worth of posts and see a pattern of arrogance?
