I never paid attention to their exact age but somehow that is an extremely sensitive point which is ridiculous especially when Huberdeau WILL be 30 when his new deal begins and Weegar shortly after.

At what point can you say they are knocking on 30? When they are 29.9 years old? Jesus.
So not going to own it.

Have a great long weekend.

You guys are seeing what you want to see.

Same thing happened when I corrected a poster for saying that Tkachuck is a much better skater than Huberdeau, which is completely false.

Next thing I see people claiming that I said he is a horrible skater (which I never said, he is average in my opinion) or that he is not great player (I said the exact opposite that he IS a great player). In fact, when the deal went down I said that it's a really good deal for Calgary.

Anyone who would actually want to be "intellectually honest" could just go a see my post history. Yet I see these completely false claims by several people here and now this, trying make a narrative that never existed.

But whatever. Have a nice weekend.

Huberdeau was one of those guys as well. He beat his previous high by 23 points and more than 0.3 points per game, same as Tkachuk pretty much who beat his previous high by 27 points and also 0.3 point per game. Both of them seemed to overachieve by similar margins, but one is 5 years younger than the other.
3.14 gpg per team was the highest scoring year since '95-96 (also 3.14) by a huge margin...next highest was 3.08 coming out of missed season, then 3.02 two years ago.

Not impossible - but that's a massive margin to make up.
Marchand and McAvoy are both having major surgeries...I think maybe another important guy, too. If anything I'd see NYI making it 5 teams out of the MET. Though WAS could also be in trouble without Backstrom

$9.5M, maybe. 4 firsts, definitely not. I'm glad the Flames did the deal.

I'll counter and say Huberdeau skates in mud lol. A lot of movement but nothing happens.

So if I'm interpreting the conditions of the pick correctly, we've got to hope Florida sucks in 2025 and 2026. A lot can happen in 2-3 years so you never know. What if Florida has a couple of good years and then falls back to earth in 2025 and their draft pick ends up being top 10? Then we would get their pick in 2026 no matter what, right? Even if it ends up being a lottery pick? You never know, stranger things have happened.

It's your inconsistency, maybe own it?
Honestly pretty chuckle worthy.

We're getting into age decimals now cause this poster won't admit he's rounding down on Tkachuck while rounding up on both players the Flames got.

Maybe Tkachuk ages slower in the second half of each year he ages?

I just find it mind blowing (but predictable) that 100+ point players can get such harsh reviews (both ways)!

Huby just posted a story with Weegar saying they're excited with a fire emoji.

To be fair, Tkachuk might be the least flashy player to hit 100 points.

He's not really a puck carrier, he's not fast, and his mits aren't exactly silky smooth,

He's smart as they come though, and is great along the boards. He works to his strengths extremely well. And he can rip a puck when he wants to.

Huberdeau's style is more that which you would imagine from a 100 point guy, from an eye test perspective. I'm really excited for him to join the team and I revel at the thought of this guy that put up 115 not on the top line playing this season with a chip on his shoulder.

Just like the Bennett deal, I cannot lose this trade. No matter what happens, one team I love will have great success! Maybe both!

These guys are making decisions on where to live - so I don't question any of that.

For me it has always been more about how they handled things. And in this way I have two primary issues with Johnny
1. He needed to get more real with himself about whether or not he wanted to be in Calgary. I appreciated he was conflicted, but get to a point of clarity sooner.
2. I do believe the Flames matched his offer, and thought it was done, and he backed out last minute.

That's why I respect how Tkachuk went about things more than Johnny.
What kind of stupid BS is this? Why did he have to get clarity sooner? He's the athlete. The Calgary Flames are the ones that are supposed to worry about their assets. Not signing last summer was a pretty f-ing big sign, don't you think?

Man, you guys are so butthurt. Blaming JG for becoming a free agent. Not giving enough notice. We knew for six f-ing years when he was going to be a free agent. You're really going to drag your ass all over a 30 year old guy that just decided to do best for him because he didn't give us something that he never owed in the first place? Lol. Not enough notice?

Such a bunch of crying wieners around here. It's not like the Flames overpaid for JG's 6-year contract. How does anyone think he owes this city anything? Straight up pathetic to read all of this bitching and moaning over a grown man making life decisions for himself and his family.
