He actually pitched pretty well yesterday too in spite of how close it ended up being.
Machado got a flukey, end of the bat bloop single. Davis legitimately struck out, but the ump blew the call. Walking Weiters on four pitches obviously wasn't great. But Alverez's fly was a routine fly ball in most other stadiums - that would've been a really weak homer if it traveled another 5 feet (probably around 350ft tops).
It would be nice to see his velocity get back up to 93-94 consistently, which is what he's been at for most of his career. He's had some games as a Jay in that range and some closer to 92.

In Jays news,
Bautista is back in and will DH tonight as EE is out with a jammed finger from his slide into third yesterday, Tulo is resuming rehab activities.
Vindette got optioned to Buffalo and Canadian Scott Diamond got called up to replace him.

Good. Every time I saw him pitch he gave me the feeling that he himself had no idea how he was going to get guys out.

what do you mean? We'll just try to get them out by pitching from the other side. Stupidest gimmick ever.
The best advice anyone could give Vindette, is to ditch the gimmick and put all your focus on being that 5% better from one side of mound.

Bautista leadnig off isn't a terrible idea but I don't think he should lead off when Thole is hitting 9th. It's pointless.

Yeah Storen looked filthy there. One positive to take from this throw-away game.

Thole's wRC+ is now -2. I didn't even know a negative score was possible.

That HAS to be a record
Edit: Seems like Pitchers regularly dip below 0, still laughable for a position player

At what point does the team tell him to start crowding the plate and lean into some pitches?

Help, save, whatever.

Maybe when the Dickey/Thole tandem is playing we let Dickey bat for Thole. He couldn't be any worse!

Didnt like the lineup today. With EE out, instead of JB back to lead off, have him at 3 and leave Carrera at the top. No Martin either hurt as well.
