I don't think my heart can continue to take this bullpen.
Bautista wouldn't have made that catch Carrera did.

positivity time, we won 3 of 4 against the top team in the division and were damn close to sweeping them.
and for all the doom and gloom of earlier in the season, we're only half a game back from the wildcard.

Man the Jays have played a lot of games against the AL East compared to the rest of the division. That bolds well for the second half when these guys start to beat on each other .

I'm hoping the Jays bring up Hutchinson for a couple of spot starts to give Stroman and Sanchez a break.

I absolutely love how pumped Grilli gets on the mound.
And his numbers as a Jay? 4.2 IP, 4H, 1R, 10K.
Super small sample but hard not to like him thus far.

haha I attempted to post the same thing basically earlier but I guess the post didn't go through, I completely agree, Grilli is bringing the passion and excitment that this team has been missing.

Love it, too.
I've said it before, but I really wish there was more fun in sports....at the end of the day regardless of the money involved, it's a freaking game

Adding on to things, the second half is easier by comparison.
44 Vs below .500
27 Vs above .500
3 Vs Oakland (26-36)
2 Vs Arizona (28-37)
6 Vs Seattle (34-29)
3 Vs San Diego (26-38)
9 Vs Baltimore (36-26)
7 Vs Houston (30-35)
3 VS Kansas (32-30)
9 Vs Tampa (29-32)
10 Vs NY Yankees (31-32)
3 Vs Cleveland (35-27)
7 Vs LA Angels (27-36)
3 Vs Minnesota (19-43)
6 Vs Boston (36-26)
Plus 14 of the 26 games between now and the AS break are against greater than .500, so there's only 41 of the last 97 remain against above .500 teams.

Also, for comparison, 36 of the 65 games played have been against better than .500 teams.
The Jays went 19-17 in those 36. 16-13 in the 29 against below .500 teams (8-2 in the last 10 vs that group after they started playing better against Minnesota).

Baseball is such a long season, and most teams hover pretty close to .500 it's hard to really say how hard the schedule will be (or has been). It really matters when you run into the team, and how they are playing at that time.
The white sox are a great example. Came out of the gate strong, but have been doing terrible over the past 20 or so. Ending result is they are 1 game under .500 right now. So when the Jays ran into them at the end of April, they were one of the top teams in baseball, but they now count against our record against teams below .500. This is just one example of how timing skews the data.
TL;DR - Strength of schedule matters much more on timing rather than an overall record to determine how the difficulty of your opponents.
