Friedman later says it is 50/50 that ROR is available.

Beginning to look like only Coleman gets traded and maybe not even him.

From what Friedman is saying, it sounds like we waited too long. Can't see us making a lot of trades now.

Classic.

After returning from the Olympic break as the only fully rested team, they won a single game to move 3 points out of 2nd last, and nobody has been traded in the 4 days since the freeze, when there has only been 2 trades leaguewide.

Absolutely time for some chicken little panic posting.

Lets just say its known Makar isn't signing a extension with the Avs. Do they potentially trade him this summer? Do we have pieces to send Colorado's way to get Makar here?

Another team told Friedman that they heard Whitecloud is not in a hurry to get out of Calgary.
He isn't someone that shows up and says "Nope. This isn't for me and can I go somewhere else?"
That doesn't mean he doesn't get traded.
Flames are happy to have players that are happy to be in Calgary and they are not motivated to move him.
If they get a great offer. Look out.
Whitecloud has indicated that he is happy to stay so they aren't saying they have to trade this guy.

The biggest challenge for the Flames, is all their guys have competition.

Kadri: people love the player, not crazy about the term, and there are other centers.
Trocheck. ROR are available

People like Coleman and Weegar but there are other players around them.

Conroy has shown he is not afraid to be patient.
If you look at some of his deals to get younger, when he has had leverage to wait, he has done a pretty good job of using that.
I don’t take Friedman’s comment about Conroy being patient as indicating players will not move. It could simply mean Conroy is not afraid to wait as long as possible, before the deadline, to ensure he gets proper value. I think it’s the old saying: “if you’ve got time, use it.” And Conroy still has a week.

Kadri I get with his contract the market is tough, and they likely won't get as good a deal as what the Avs gave up for Nelson last year.

But really what players out there are really comparable to Coleman, Whitecloud, or Weegar, I don't see a whole lot of guys similar to them available.

To me it sounds more like "Pay the price or they aren't moving"

Can't force a trade. The structural issues are the same and haven't changed

Which I think is the right way to do it. If a team really wants Coleman ect, then they need to cobble the assets together to get it.

I know it takes away from the lets trade everyone crowd for the sake of trades.

trade players early - 'is that all you got? why didn't you wait until the deadline!'

wait until the deadline - 'waited too long'

The Flames will end up retaining on Kadri to move him. You can tell in his words and actions he no longer wants to be here. This isn’t a knock on Kadri, he’s a good pro but you can’t have players disgruntled to be here as part of the rebuild.

Retain on Kadri and maximize the return. Take a contract back on Coleman, I don’t think that hurts his value much.

If not if its when guys.
Dont buy into the media jargle.... the players themselves have said they are ready to get out.

Kadri and Coleman literally 2 of the top 3 trade bait board pieces and now all of a sudden Craig might not want to trade.
Okay

All 32 teams should be required to make at least one trade. Trades build fan interest and are a form of entertainment in and of themselves.

What do you mean ‘waited too long’?

What were the offers in December, or earlier, for Coleman or Kadri? I’ll go out on a limb and say you don’t know.

Look, this is no different than any other year. NHL teams wait. They wait until they know where their team is and what the market is. Most competent GM’s would do no different. Why would, for example, Colorado jump the gun and trade for Kadri early in the season? Now, they have options. Nor would it have served the Flames well to fire sale their assets for better lottery odds.

These complaints are tired and lazy. Especially seeing as there is still a week before the deadline.

What is classic is posters on CP getting all whiny about something that hasn’t happened yet.
