Technically Drai is a #1 overall in a redraft. Who knows maybe Savoie too
I had to look up who that was. At first I thought they were talking about Lavoie, which is also batpoop crazy.
Then I noticed they were talking about a 4th round pick. Only relevant 4th rounders I can see going back 20 years are Erik Gustafsson and Tobias Rieder, who both made their mark not in the organization.
I'm sure having nothing but 1st overall picks ever work out(and even then, still sometimes bust, haha!!!), must really warp your ability to gauge prospects of your favorite team. But at a certain point wouldn't you just assume the worst?
Maybe it's like Charlie in Always Sunny when he takes the "smart pills", and in their mind they really are better and everyone else is wrong?

One of the less heralded moments of Edmonton's no goodness, but still a fun one.
Vlad just gave them the opportunity to think they were the smartest men in the room. Guy has a decent camp, people couldn't help but hype him, comparing him to Gaudreau who only had the NHL game. Think they've got a steal everybody missed being added to the inevitable juggernaut. Contract gets rejected, league has it in for the Oilers. They put in the risk to see what talent was there, now somebody else will get him. Just not fair!
Forgettable season in the Q, goes undrafted again before eventually fading away to the KHL. So in less than a year he went from a prospect worthy of a 3-year contract, to not even being worth a 7th round flyer or contract again.
Just a fun little saga that was.

He's going to have his worst statistical season. There's no free lunch for McDavid this year and his I don't give a crap about defense stance is going to hurt the Oilers in a shortened season.

Last years PPG put him at 85 points in 56 games. So he got a bit better? Bring on the cup. If he doesn't focus more a d they won't win and if you want him to carry and team on offence and play hard on d it's better to roll back his minutes per game. He can only do so much.
They need someone else to step up still and they will need to keep the puck out of the net. I just don't see it happening.

Keep thinking of the story about when Yzerman bought into being a complete player. Perrenial 100+ point player - played to get points. Bowman came to him one season and asked him to be a more complete player and told him his point totals would drop but the team would have more success. Yzerman never scored 100 points again but the team went on to win 3 cups and Yzerman was one of the best Captains in the history of the NHL.
I hope the 2 wonderboys up there keep playing just for the points. Let them have all the Harts and Art Ross', thats all they'll have.

With the different schedule/timing this year, I wonder what time of the season the Oilers reach their usual benchmarks. There's a lot more to figure out than just a new schedule:
When will they be mathematically eliminated from the playoffs?
When will the Oilers and/or media start using the 3-stooges syndrome excuse for Connor (yet again)?
Will they try it with Drai now?
Will they be allowed to use that hilarious excuse again without risking Connor/Drai needing to be quarantined?
Jersey toss?
Lottery party?
Who will they pick 1st overall?
How long before he scores a goal?
Asks for a trade?
Which one comes first?
etc...
