What I gather people on here are not taking into consideration....
This isn't just a "hey let's deal some of our vets for a potential stud."
Strome/Capuano have beef going back into at least this time last year.
There's a number of examples that made it into the media and it looks like the coach finally won - who knows what that means but Strome could very well be moved here IMO if even a decent deal is dangled.
Point being we could potentially take advantage of a situation over there (think Seguin like).

Seguin was robbery. I'd like if we could do the same with Strome if the potential was there.

IMO, obviously.

Why? If you can move that 1st for a player that will be better than what is available in the draft then you do it. I would move our 1st for Strome. The Islanders wouldn't but I would. The odds of the Flames drafting 1st overall are pretty damn slim. After Mathews there is nobody in the draft imo as good as Strome will be.

That would be a killer core to be around,
Gaudreau-Monahan
Strome-Bennett
Brodie-Hamilton

Seguin was robbery because Eriksson got a concussion.
Without the concussion the deal still may look bad but a 70+ point Eriksson makes the deal look much better than what he has become after the injury.

rumors were the B's really wanted Gaudreau in a Seguin trade. I remember around the draft the rumor was 6th pick (Monahan) and Gaudreau for Seguin. When that didn't happen I recall hearing Calgary was still a favorite to land Seguin with something around Gaudreau+ and the Flames eating cap space.

Back to reality everyone. Coach will go before strome.
Some of these proposals are so ludicrous. Suggest an armchair gm thread be started so these fantasy ideas can be proposed there instead of this thread. You click on this thread looking for relevant discussion and next thing you know we are pulling off some unrealistic heist that won't happen.
Don't mind reading realistic proposals that are tied to actual rumours, that's fine but to pull something out of thin air is a waste of time and space.

Friedman on HNIC:
Marleau's name is on trade market. Can't confirm if he has been asked to waive his NMC, so not sure who is pushing for the trade.

Didn't Marleau and Thornton refused to waive their NMCs a year or so ago? They both like it where they are.
I guess the Sharks could take the classic approach when trying to get rid of an employ by say limiting his ice time to 5 Min. a game but that would lower his trade value.

No doubt Strome is a great prospect, but after dealing their first last year, and the possibility that Strome may not become the player he could, and the fact that Calgary's first could easily become Matthews, it just seems like a bad idea to me.

They seem pretty confident Marleau is being asked to waive. Wonder where?
One more season after this @ 6,666,666m per.

You'd have to figure it's a contender and probably an eastern one.

Sens and Islanders both have money to spare, but both are top 10 in scoring.
Devils have been much better than expected this year and have plenty of cap room. You have to think that they'll go for someone like Marleau if the Sharks are looking to dump cap rather than make a hockey trade, especially if they're anywhere close to the playoffs.

That's funny, last I checked Strome went down and coach is still coaching.
Until then, I will speculate.

I' thinking Micheal Neuvirth is the goalie in a bottle this year. Would really like it if the Flames could grab him or Steve Mason. Ship the other two vet goalies off to Siberia to work in the ice mines.

Sad thing is we re-signed Ramo instead. Could have had him for zip. Can't see is giving up anything of value though.

They do play both teams in about 2.5 to 3 weeks. Early scouting?
Just no to Marleau for the love of god.
