Okay, so I went over to have a quick read and this is the post that stuck with me. This guy really knows whats up. As hilarious as it would be for them to appoint Gulutzan as their new head coach....
Quote:
Lets play Oilers GoodBad
The Oilers have fired Todd McLellan
The Oilers have named Craig MacTavish interim head coach
The Oilers have fired Peter Chiarelli
The Oilers have named Kevin Lowe as interim GM
Reckon thats probably plausible
Party like its the Year 2000!
But hes not wrong. I think we could all see that happening.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
I think Katz is one of the few owners that would pay a coach quenville money. On a side note, it's amazing how good the Islanders became with the addition of Lou and Trotz.
So T-Mac has this year and next year at 3 million per.
Q has this year and next year on his contract at 6 million per. He's not going to come to Edmonton unless theres enough of a raise to make it worth his while to give up his freedom to wait for the right opportunity.
So lets say Katz has to offer 7 or 8 million. For the next two years, Katz is paying 11 million just for head coaching.
I have my doubts that he's going to be over the moon happy about that. I would expect that its more likely that he if he fires T-Mac, he'll take on GG's cheap contract for the rest of this year as the head coach and evaluate in the summer.
I have my doubts that Q is all that eager to jump on the coaching rails again so soon unless its for a chance for a cup, not a painful rebuild.

And Chia has messed it up so badly that a new GM can't fix it either.
I think that is the biggest issue. You need to wait for some of those contracts to expire because no team will take them unless something substantial comes along with it. They really can't give anything in additional because they can't even plug all the current holes since don't really have anyone ready to step in right now and have been relying on PTOs to fill the roster. Any future picks given up just extends the issue another year.
After all that, you still have to consider the boondoggle that is the boys club hockey management side and owner.

I think someone posted a video on Twitter or something yesterday and Coach Q was doing some pre-game shots at the bears tailgate. Doesn't seem like he's in a hurry to get back into the coaching seat IMO.
I do see it as a coaching issue. It is a roster issue. Take away McDavid and you've got arguably the worst roster in the league with no forward depth, a poor blueline, and now apparently goaltending issues
But go ahead and fire another coach! That's worked so well every other time.
I'm not a big fan of McLellan but I doubt he's the problem. That roster is just bad except for one guy. No coach is going to make them good.

Is going to coach that oilers worth and additional 1 or 2 million? Q can sit at home and make 6 million doing nothing. He already has a history of being hospitalized for ulcers. The Oilers would kill him.
The Flames should remove all media privileges from this reporter. Embarrassing.
No way! What? Are you kidding? They should remove media privileges from all other reporters and give it to this guy exclusively! That would be hilarious!

Wonder who the "Calgary scribe" was. Does "scribe" imply writer and not broadcaster?
I'd like to see a Francis-Stauffer war. Put Francis to optimal use.
He did use the term "infuriated broadcaster". Guessing one of their radio guys.
Edit: for the Edmo dolt, Calgary guy wouldn't be Francis, as he wrote the piece.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

An Edmonton Oilers employee has just stepped well over the line into the realm of controversy and is outright calling for rival players in the National Hockey League to be attacked in order to send a message.
Edmonton Oilers insider and host of "Oilers Now" on 630 CHED radio in Edmonton Bob Stauffer
Just remember, he isnt a Journalist or Media, hes an 'Edmonton Oilers Employee.'
