Its just so wrong on so many levels. Once a child molester, always a child molester. Society should be protected from them... not embrace and admire them... even if you are a great musician. To me, the child molestation part just completely drowns and overwhelms anything else in your life that in anybody else would be admired.

Be a great musician and cheat on your wife... I don't care
Be a great musician and beat your wife.... I don't care ... I will still admire you as a musician
Be a great musician and molest an innocent child just to fulfill your own sick needs... to hell with you... You deserve to die right then and there.
I hate "kiddie diddlers" too but I don't believe Jackson was one. I think MJ due to his childhood lived a reverse life in the fact that he was forced to be an adult at age 6 and never had a chance to see what it was like to be a child until he was older. Sometimes when someone is different we cannot understand how they think when they think so much outside the box then us. When Michael Jackson stated that sharing his bed with young boys was beautiful I believe him because with his mentality he viewed that the same way you did when you were just a kid and had a sleepover. I think he was a man that was so full of love and so childlike in mentality that he was strange to your average person. He did not build Neverland because he was a pedophile, he built it so he could play with children because that was where the guys mentality was. Like a child he made himself vulnerable to people who could take advantage of him. He paid for kids with cancer to get the treatment they could not afford, showered them with gifts and in return he got sued for millions by parents who saw a way to get rich. Why did he pay off the first child? Because MJ was devastated by the accusations and just wanted it to go away, he could not cope with it and I can understand that because as an animal rights advocate if someone accused me of animal abuse I would be devastated too! Then add in his mentality and he just wanted to throw money at it to make it go away because he has lived a life where money was so abundant that whenever a problem arose that was how he was raised to deal with it. Somebody is sick, throw money at it. Want my own amusemrnt park, throw money at it. Want a pet chimp, money can do that. Someone makes a horrible accusation and you want it to go away and your mentality is like a child's what are you gonna do? The world lost a strange but great human being, performer, and singer.

There's a lot of shallow posts in this thread.

There's no denying Jackson was a different Cat. His childhood alone excuses him for that. Unprecedented attention from the time he was 7 years old until today. I don't want to sound like an apologist, but I'm finding it hard to believe so many people are saying they're 'glad he's dead' or 'I wish it happened sooner'. The 'little boys' issue was clearly inexcusable, although I do think it was blown out of proportion after listening to the news tonight (Larry King spoke about it for quite a while).

Someone made a post that separated 'art' from 'artist'. I'll celebrate his musical genius, not his personal life.

Nah, Tito.

RIP, first major concert I ever saw was on the Thriller tour in Buffalo when I was about 9 or 10. I will respect his art and hope that his life really was innocent and it was blown out of proprtion by our even stranger media culture.

I heard Michael Jackson had a cardiac attack. Did he die as well?

I've actually been enjoying some MJ marathons on the radio tonight. I've never really listened to his stuff before other than the biggest hits.

I would think it would be perfectly possible. I just don't think his face could take any more plastic surgery. The biggest downfall was that this man didn't surround himself with people strong enough to say NO to what he was doing was inappropriate. He had enough minders - why didn't they mind him better.

I guess if you have talent you can get away with just about anything, no matter how many ugly, dispicable flaws you have in your character.
If Jerry Seinfeld was arrested and accused of some pervy crime, would Seinfeld reruns cease to be hilarious?

Pedophilia is one of those charges which some people will always believe in, regardless of any amount of proof otherwise.

I hate it when people think they somehow have some better knowledge of what actually happened (if anything) than the people in the jury who put a lot of effort into going through everything that could actually be proven.

To disregard "innocent until proven guilty" is to throw away the basics of justice. It always scares me how easily people do that, especially when it comes to the worst crimes, which should require the most solid evidence.

I don't even know what "true music" means (someone else said it, so I quoted it). I just find it bizarre that someone would think to be a "true" music fan, that you should like Michael Jackson (or any particular pop artist for that matter). There is very little depth to the music or lyrics so I find it strange to judge someone as a "true" fan based on whether they like his music or not. Honestly, I bet even most Jackson fans like other artists because the offer more musical depth or insightful lyrics.

And for the record (Flip), I don't like Coldplay. I have only ever heard maybe 2 or 3 of their songs. I tolerate Radiohead, but don't own any of their music.

As for what music I like... well, I "like" whatever makes me feel good... so any genre. I even like some pop music, but I can't appreciate it much on a fundamental level. Music that I truely appreciate usually has more of a blues or psychadelic aspect. Less crotch grabbing, side show dancers, a what have you. When I listen to music, I'd rather be submersed in it than be distracted by a spectacle. Does anyone really submerse themselves into Michal Jackson's music? Can anyone listen to it for hours, and for those hours, nothing else exists but the music? Or how about Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, and pretty much any other pop musician on the planet? I just can't see it.

Yes. I've listened to "Thriller" from start to finish on multiple occasions. I can also put on "Kind of Blue" and listen to that on repeat. It just depends what kind of mood I'm in.

Wow, I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. Such a talent but he turned into a Howard Hughes-esque weirdo. His family certainly didn't help matters. His isn't my favourite genre of music, but you can't deny his contributions to the field.

I don't believe a word of the pedo garbage, just some parents swinging for the home run I think.

Strange, strange man. I always thought it was sad how he kind of pissed it all away with his strange behaviour and his need to alter his image with plastic surgery.
