If Saginaw lose in the first 2 rounds, would Parehk come to the Flames?

If the Flames are still playing I wouldn't see why not. He'd be available just up the the Flames to play him. I don't know how each respective shedule lines up though

You were allowed to officially be excited when we drafted him.
He JUST turned 19, born the same day as my son. His defensive game will come with time - his offensive toolkit is elite, and he takes things personally.
His ceiling is a top-10 player.

OHL.Playoffs round 1 goes from Mar. 27 - April 8. I would assume that round 2 goes from the 9th to the 21st or so. The Flames regular season ends Apr. 17. If Saginaw makes it past the 1st round of playoffs they're probably isn't any regular season games left. Playoffs though...just the experience being around the team could be huge for him, I don't know if he's eligible for that though.

If he plays for the Flames this year would it burn a year off his ELC?

I don’t think so because he is already signed, so the 10 game rule would still apply for junior players. I also don’t think playoffs count towards that.

It's going to be wild how Craig approaches next season's conundrum of slotting Parekh into the top 6 of the main roster. Because he sure as heck isn't going back to the OHL. There's no way he goes back. He's done it all and the only other option is the big club.

I think Weegar would be a good partner for him.

It should be Bahl. His size and reach would be a massive aid to balancing out the 200ft game of a pairing. Need a better LD option for Weegar. And with Parekh I cannot see a reason why Razz needs to be here next season. There's real talent coming in, decisions have to be made.

I’m hoping the Flames can come to an agreement with the OHL to allow him (and future first rounders) to do their D+2 season in the AHL. Will allow the CHL to retain more players for their D+1 season instead of losing them to the NCAA.
If not, perhaps he could play in Europe next year?

If your goal is cap savings and extending his ELC as long as possible, it may actually work against the team in that regard.
Quinn Hughes signed a 6 x 7.85 contract after putting up 41 points in 56 games with -24 in his D+3 season. The following season he had 68 points in 76 games and was +10. What would his contract look like after that season? Now his contract is a massive discount for the Canucks during their supposed window (lol).
Let the players play wherever is best for the team and the development of the player. Lock up your young players for as long as possible, as quick as possible, for as cheap as possible.

Defensemen typically take more time to develop than forwards. Why wouldn’t the flames send him back to the OHL for his D+2 season in order to further develop physically and defensively? This is the path that many defensemen take. Even Cale Makar didn’t debut in the NHL until his D+3 season. The added benefit is his ELC slides.

I don't think that comp works. Makar could have gone to the AHL as a NCAA player. That's not an option and Parekh has earned the opportunity to at least show he's worthy of an NHL spot. Makar was also drafted out of the AJHL.

Quinn Hughes comparable makes the most sense.
Both Makar and Hughes started producing right away as well.
Makes sense to bring him in next season. He has nothing left to accomplish.

Because he has dominated that league for 2 years now. And dominated in a way that a defenseman hasn't done forever.
Parkeh is 6' and 185lbs.
Makar is 6' and 187lbs.
QuInn Hughes is 5'10 and 180lbs.
Adam Fox is 5'11 and 180lbs.
Parekh doesn't need to develop physically. He's also incredibly smart. How many prospects graduated high school at 15? He's spent the last 4 years training to be a Pro as he hasn't had the same restraints of class as his peers.
He belongs on the Flames next year.
