On pace for 105. It just keeps climbing.

What an absolute tear since the calendar turned.

If he gets to 102, it will be the most points in a season in the OHL by a defenceman in the last 30 years.

The way he's turned on the boosters is just nutty. And it's not like this is an overage season, it's not even his 19 year old season..the guy is doing it first season after the draft as an 18 year old (just turned 19).

Yeah - Ryan Ellis has always been the high watermark for that because everyone higher is from the mid 90s and prior so irrelevant stats for today's conversation.

But the mark is still 102 points- that would be really sweet. Needs 19 more points in the remaining 13 games. Seems like he might be able to do it.

he's been hitting at over the pace for a while now, I think its at least 50-50 he does it

Ryan Ellis did it at 19 as well, not 18 like Parekh

I shared in the prospects forum, but for the last 35 games Parekh has played at a 1.94 point pace. If he finishes the season at the same pace he'll get another 25 points and finish with 108 points.

I'd be shocked if he doesn't beat Ellis' 101 point season.

Nitpicking here, but Parekh turned 19 last week

Ellis did it in his D+2 season (19, turned 20)

parekh is one year earlier in his trajectory

Ellis put up 61pts in 48 games in his equivalent season to ZPs now

interestingly that was on a team with draft eligible Taylor Hall (a la Parekh and Misa)

It's not nitpicking you just didn't understand what I was saying.

only a goal yesterday, but 2 points (so far) in the first period today in a game with a fair amount of star power against Windsor

Saginaw has three games over the weekend (including Thursday)

Thu Barrie
Fri Sudbury
Sun North Bay

They are ranked 7th, 12th and 14th overall, so hardly juggernaughts.

Parekh needs 1.45 points per game to reel in the 103 points.

6 points in the three games moves him to 1.25 points per game for the final 10 games. No points in the three games puts him at 2.00 points per game needed for the final 10 games.

Okay, am I allowed to be officially excited about this kid or are there still too many defensive holes in his game?

Not talking about you, but honestly who cares if he has some defensive holes in his game.

You just can't teach this type of talent. You can teach defence, and get him to defend a bit better but a lot of his "defending" is going to come creating chaos in the offensive zone and having the puck on his stick.

Get him to stick check well and skate with this guy at the next level he will be fine.

Any defence should not come at the expense of his offence.

Even the best Makar makes mistakes, but his skating and ability to transport the puck out of danger make up for it. Every top dman will cough it up and get hemmed in.

His defensive weaknesses are so overblown this year, id wager anyone arguing its "bad" likely is trying to nit pick in order to bring his stock down.
The kid by all accounts could be generational, he's doing things we've never seen. If he was a Toronto or Edmonton prospect his name would be all over sportsnet/TSN weekly with updates and interviews its unreal.

Get excited!

He is also plus 36 and was 39 last year.

People acting like this is Erik Karlsson putting up 101 points and being -27.
