Flew back to Calgary just now and sharing the flight with Montgomery.
Apparently a lot of the team flew out this afternoon with some of the fans on the same flight. That must have been a fun and happy flight

Pumas can progress with a 1-0 win. That's far from "it won't be close".
Anyway, you're so uninformed that it's not really worth discussing further.

I was on that flight and it was fun. I’m not one of those fans who is a little creepy and fawns all over these guys (just my personal opinion of how I see some people act). That said, I said hi to a few of the players and commended them for an amazing performance. It was awesome, and I was a little surprised that WestJet didn’t say anything over the intercom, being a sponsor and having the team on the flight.

It was the same crew for our flight as well, and some of them definitely knew and were excited about the game result. Surprised they didn’t call them out. A safety thing, maybe?
Anyone on CP going to Mexico City?

Flights to Mexico City are not great. I did think about going.
It's too bad there wasn't some sort of charter organized. I'm sure you could get 100 fans to go maybe more.

First game of the season is away at Forge on April 5 which is the third straight year we've opened there. I'm getting a bit tired of that even if I understand why they keep doing it.
Home opener is on Friday April 18 when Vancouver FC come to town. Apparently that is a 5:00 start which seems early for a Friday even if it is Easter weekend so some people will have the Friday off.

Really, a home opener on Good Friday? Sometimes, this league is so great, and other times, they just can't get out of their own way.
And I hate the opener on the road against Forge...again. The mentality of this team has turned a corner though, and I look forward to us going there and getting all three points.

Yeah, that's stupid. I realize that Cavalry v Forge is the marquee match up but sure would be nice to have Forge as OUR home opener at some point. It feels like it's a free hit for Forge in one of their toughest matches of the year where if Cavalry gets a point it is a good result.

That's an odd day for a fixture, and unfortunately it'll be one that I'll have to miss because of a dinner.
That being said, it'll make good background entertainment for my guests while I'm cooking. Three of them are soccer fans and have been to Cavs matches before.

It has to chap the shared offices of the CSB/Forge/CPL anytime anyone other than Forge gets a league first.
Cavs got their title, now it's back to promoting Forge as the league standardbearer, pushing them to get favourable schedules etc, and this CONCACAF Championship win derails that.

I wonder if we make R16 if at that point Foot Soldiers/Club/Westjet will organize a charter to the away leg.

I do hope/wish that WestJet would get a bit more creative as our shirt sponsor. Obviously they pay some $$$ and get their logo on the shirts - that's appreciated, of course.
But I feel that there is some potential for a little more "win win" with the club if they gave supporters a bit of an incentive to attend a few of the marquee away matches (and "home" games in Victoria). Supporters would be talking about it, the media would love a puff piece of a whole bunch of soccer fans on a flight, etc. It just seems like a missed opportunity to embrace the whole "away days" culture of soccer.

I wouldn't know the first thing about organizing this, but I agree.
Imagine if we played Club America or LAFC in the next round. Those would be insanely fun away legs if we have a 737 full of Cavs fans.

^ Even just some discount codes, hotel deals, packages that are not actually higher than doing it yourself, etc. would be a good incentive. A full-on charter would be amazing, but... baby steps.

Sounds like Moonlight Bay Brewing in Wainwright now has OneSoccer and is showing the Cavalry game Thursday.
When a small town Alberta bar gets OneSoccer, this is how you know the game is growing.

If we go through, we play a club in Costa Rica (not the worst place to travel for an away game either!)

Forge got wacked last night so that's great to see. Didn't see much of the game but Monterrey never looked like they got out of first or second gear
